Gun Facts – Your Guide to Debunking Gun Control Myths

April 8, 2009

INTRODUCTION:  Gun Facts is a free e-book that debunks common myths about gun control.  It is intended as a reference guide for journalists, activists, politicians, and other people interested in restoring honesty to the debate about guns, crime, and the 2nd Amendment.

Gun Facts has 94 pages of information.  Divided into chapters based on gun control topics (assault weapons, ballistic finger printing, firearm availability, etc.), finding information is quick and easy.

Each chapter lists common gun control myths, then lists a number of documented and cited facts (with over 480 detailed footnotes) that directly dispute the gun control claim.  Thus when a neighbor, editor or politician repeats some slogan propagated by the gun control industry, you can quickly find that myth then rebuke with real information.

March 13, 2009

For example: The March 27, 2009 edition of featured an article, date-lined March 26, headlined “Obama makes his first anti-Russian statements.” That false charge against President Obama, clearly has the paw-prints of current British efforts at subversion of Russia. However, the actual fact to which that misleading headline is attached, is that someone in the editorial department of Pravda had been duped into swallowing and regurgitating a British swindle, a proposal for a swindle known as “a single world currency,” a swindle also imposed upon some official circles in China.

In this respect, Russia is not unique among today’s nations. Similar attempts at inducing political-economic suicide in Russia, China, and other places, are being spread among duped leading circles of many nations; a virtual epidemic of a fatal economic disease is being spread, world-wide, in this way. However, nations which allow themselves to continue to be misled in this way, will be now soon doomed by their own choice.

In general, the problem is, that, speaking generally, the government of Russia, like most of the leading governments of the world today, has shown no significant comprehension of the real nature of either the present world economic crisis, or possible cures. This is largely due to the success of British imperialist interests in befuddling, not only some leading circles in Russia, but virtually every presently leading government of every part of this world. If beliefs of that sort prevail, there is no hope for any part of civilization, even leading existing national cultures, for a very long time still to come.

It is typical of imperialist methods which the British Empire of Lord Shelburne adopted, explicitly, from the legacy of the notorious Roman emperor Julian the Apostate, to induce nations to destroy themselves by swindles of that sort. Swindles such as British schemes for supranational “world currencies” are much safer, and often more feasible weapons of mass destruction than nuclear ones, provided that credulous dupes can be found among governments of the intended victims.

The source of that unfounded opinion’s circulation in Russian circles, like those of the sociopath Larry Summers inside the U.S.A., is clearly an echo of the work of certain known British financier networks which have also been operating similarly inside certain Russian circles. Nonetheless, while the intrinsic silliness of the headline is clear, there are, unfortunately, many people in various nations, who may not actually be British agents, but whose ignorance of the principles of economy nonetheless permits them to be duped into promoting swindles such as investing in schemes resembling a John Law bubble of an Eighteenth-century past, or, similarly, the fraud of “a single world currency,” today.

Those who would shape economic and financial policies of nations should, first, reassess the competence of their opinions, before expending efforts on supporting what may well be the fantasies which they may have been induced to adopt.

Senate votes to END moratorium and sell off our highways to foreign toll operators!

April 8, 2009

The Texas Senate voted 29-2 in favor of re-authorizing private toll contracts that essentially sell our highways to the highest bidder. On a deal just signed in Dallas, Spain-based Cintra got the rights to charge us 75 cents a mile even though $500 million in gas taxes and other public subsidies will be used to build the project in yet another sweetheart deal for corporations and a raw deal for taxpayers! These contracts are also at the heart of the Trans Texas Corridor.

The two voting against were Senators Glenn Hegar and Wendy Davis.Thank Senator Hegar here: Wendy Davis actually wants MORE of these private toll contracts and voted against these bills because she wanted an open door for Cintra instead of giving public toll entities first crack at toll projects, so “no thanks,” Senator Davis.

All senators but Wendy Davis voted for SB 17 that purports to protect taxpayers from private toll contracts, called CDAs, but is a sham since TxDOT and toll agencies can waive the steps and jump right to a CDA allowing private corporations to control our public infrastructure!

We also put in 200,000 calls to several senators’ districts (Dan Patrick, Juan Hinojosa, Steve Ogden to name a few) because they claimed they hadn’t received ANY calls against this. Well, now they’ve received plenty of calls against! They know the PEOPLE of Texas DO NOT want private control of public roads where these foreign toll operators can control EVERY MILE WE DRIVE, charging oppressively high tolls where they actually have a financial incentive to price drivers off the road in order to maintain a speed of 50 MPH or greater, “There is a sliding scale of damages payments to TxDOT if Average Speeds in the toll lanes are less than 50mph.” The deal also makes TxDOT pay Cintra for any loss of toll revenue due to HOV users!
(Read more here…).

Tell your State Rep to KILL private toll deals!
Now these DISASTROUS bills, SB 404/SB 17, MUST BE KILLED in the House. The House version of the bill is HB 2929. SB 220, the bill to LEGALIZE converting existing freeways into toll roads is also still looming. We must fix or KILL that one. There are three other House bills to END tolls on existing freeways whose authors are willing to work with us, like HB 13 by Rep. David Leibowitz that has not been granted a hearing though he requested one over a month ago! HB 11 has also NOT received a hearing and it would help KILL the Trans Texas Corridor by removing it from the transportation code!

Contact your State Representatives and tell them to:
VOTE NO on HB 2929 that sells our highways to the highest bidder, NO to SB 220 loophole-laden bill to toll existing freeways, and YES to sign onto HB 11 to strip the Trans Texas Corridor from the code.
