Audit the Fed Mass Action Event

September 8, 2009

September 7, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Seventy-five percent of Americans agree with us that it’s time to thoroughly and completely audit the Federal Reserve System.

Every Republican and over one hundred Democrats in the House of Representatives have signed on as cosponsors of HR 1207. Almost a quarter of the Senate has gotten on board with S 604.

So what does this tell us?

It’s time to go get the rest!!

Last month, I announced that we would be holding an Audit the Fed Mass Action Event starting in the last couple weeks of August and culminating in a nationwide Mass Action Day on September 15.

Since then, C4L members have been knocking on doors, standing outside stores, attending county fairs, and gathering petition signatures in support of S 604.

On September 15, C4L National will deliver over 100,000 petitions to Capitol Hill while members across the country deliver the petitions they’ve collected to their senators’ local offices. Many of your fellow members will be holding rallies outside those offices, and several have contacted local media about covering the event.

Here are three ways you can help ensure the success of this Mass Action Event:

1.) Gather petitions –Hit the streets! Make sure your senators hear from as many people in your state as possible. Let’s spread the word and add to the seventy-five percent of Americans who support our cause. You can download petitions at CampaignforLiberty.com and AuditTheFed.com.

2.) Call your senators– Starting Tuesday, September 8, C4L members will be calling their senators’ offices to urge them to cosponsor S 604. Our objective is to keep their phones ringing off the hook by having members call every day for the week leading up to the petition drop. Commit to calling your senators by signing up here.

3.) Show up on September 15 – Congress counts on grassroots activists being content with just calling and sending petitions. To make sure they get our message that it’s time to Audit the Fed, we’re going to take our cause right to their offices in person. These events will be as effective as you make them. Show your senators that you are serious about real reform by rallying with your fellow members right outside their offices.

State and local coordinators and leaders have been working hard to create the most effective and efficient plans for September 15’s petition drop. Click hereto find out how to take action in your area.

We were able to secure the support of almost two thirds of the House with your hard work gathering petitions, calling, and showing up at your representative’s offices. This could be the event that tips the scales in the Senate!

As we also announced last month, we’re adding an extra incentive. The person who gathers the most signatures in each state will win a pocket Constitution and a copy of Dr. Paul’s new book, End the Fed,both autographed by Congressman Paul himself.

And whichever state collects the most signatures (as a percentage of population) will win a $1,500 gift certificate to the Campaign for Liberty store!

Our representatives and senators are expecting to settle back in to business as usual when they return to D.C. after Labor Day. They think that they can leave your opinions and concerns behind in their districts while they continue to work on completely taking over our health care and finding other new ways to run our lives.

Let’s show them that their top priority should be finding out how the Federal Reserve has doled out trillions of our dollars, what deals they have locked us into with foreign central banks and governments, and why they refuse to disclose the details.

The day after our petition drop will mark the official release of End the Fed.This comprehensive look at the Federal Reserve System and its disastrous effects on our lives and country is sure to be a powerful tool with which to convince your family, friends, and neighbors that it’s time to restore our economy by reinstituting a sound money system.

A year ago, no one would have said we could make an audit of the Fed into a national, mainstream issue. Join us on September 15 as we show the political establishment, entrenched bureaucrats, and the media that our grassroots Revolution is more energized and determined to take back our country than ever before.

In Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. Together, we cansee Audit the Fed signed into law. But to do so, we have to take action to grow and secure our support in the House and Senate. Download our petitions and other materials, spread the word, call your senators, and join us on September 15 as we come together across the country to fight to Audit the Fed!

The Fed’s Interesting Week

September 3, 2009

By Ron Paul
Published 09/01/09

It has been an interesting week indeed for the Federal Reserve. Early this week, it was announced that President Obama intends to reappoint Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to a second term in January, signaling a vote of confidence in him. Bernanke seems to be popular with the administration and with Wall Street, and with good reason. His lending policies have left big banks flush with newly created cash that covers up old mistakes and allows for new ones. By buying up mountains of Treasury debt he has also enabled spending to soar to ridiculous levels that should startle any responsible economist, and scare any American concerned about the value of the dollar. However, these highly sensitive decisions about our money are not made by economists, they are made by politicians. Bernanke, like most of his predecessors, is the politician’s best friend. However, there is no reason to believe any other central planner would behave any differently, considering the immense political pressure on the Fed.

Fed policies have been as bad for the economy as they are good for politicians and bankers, as the recently released numbers on the debt and deficit demonstrate. For the first time since World War II the annual budget deficit is projected to be over 11 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product. It is also projected that by 2019 the national debt will be 68% of GDP. Our path, if unchanged, is completely untenable.

The administration claims that it inherited a dire situation from the last administration, which is absolutely true. However, that hasn’t stopped them from accepting all the policies and premises that got us here, and accelerating those policies to rapidly make a bad situation much worse. The bailouts started with the last administration. They have gotten bigger with this one. The last administration gave us expanded government involvement in healthcare with a new prescription drug benefit. This administration gave us a renewal and expansion of SCHIP, and now the current healthcare takeover attempts. In reality, we can afford none of this, but shady monetary policy allows Washington to continue along its merry way, aggravating all our economic problems.

Not everyone in government finds it acceptable that the Fed wields so much power and privilege in secrecy. Last week, a federal judge ruled against Fed secrecy, compelling them to release under the Freedom of Information Act information regarding which banks received emergency loans, and under what terms. The Fed will, of course do everything in its power to fight this ruling and it is certainly not the last word on the issue. Still, it is encouraging to see that the interests of the taxpayers were defended victoriously in court, while the Fed only sees the plight of its big banker friends.

Meanwhile HR 1207 and S604, legislation to open up the Fed’s books to a complete audit, continue to gain momentum in Congress as the people continue to insist on real transparency of the Federal Reserve. One way or another, the days of Fed autonomy are coming to an end, as well they should. No one should have the power to debauch the currency and gut the economy as they do. It is time they answered for their actions, so the people can understand that we truly are better off with freedom instead of Fed tyranny.

Ron Paul Endorsing Debra Medina

September 3, 2009

I would like to introduce you to a good friend of mine, Debra Medina. I have known Debra for over ten years and have always been impressed by her drive and commitment to principle. Debra has been a real defender of Liberty both in her home town of Wharton and across the state of Texas.

Debra has for years been a key supporter and member of my campaign team. As chairman of the Wharton County Republican Party, she has stood up to the big government establishment and fought to hold our party accountable to our platform and our conservative Texas values. Because of her leadership and organizational skills, I asked Debra to serve on the board of directors of my national grassroots action group, Campaign for Liberty, where she has played an important role in our fight to defend our Constitution.

In addition to her political accomplishments, I am proud of Debra for the person she is. Debra Medina is a loving wife, a home school mother of two talented honor students, and a successful business owner. Debra is a true success story and role model for Texans across our state.

I am proud to call Debra Medina a friend, and as a fellow Texan, I encourage you to get to know her. Debra is exploring a run for higher office and would appreciate your input on her effort. You can learn more about her at www.medinafortexas.com.

I am sure we will look to Debra for leadership in my community and across our state for many years to come.

C4L Members Take Action to Reclaim our Republic

September 3, 2009

September 2, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Exactly one year ago today, over 10,000 passionate grassroots activists gathered in Minneapolis, Minnesota to proudly proclaim their support for limited constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a free people.

The Rally for the Republic was a clear call to all political parties to return to the founding principles that made our nation great. Featuring premier speakers and musicians from our movement, the Rally officially kicked off Campaign for Liberty and energized and motivated us for the battle ahead.

It served notice to the political establishment that our Revolution, which so many assumed would fade away after the Ron Paul presidential campaign, was just getting started.

Every day, you continue to spread the message in innovative ways.  It is through your actions and your involvement in C4L that we will take back our country and pass on a legacy of freedom to future generations.

Here are just a few of the exciting activities being done by your fellow C4L members all across the country:

Florida:In our last update on member activities, we reported that Florida Campaign for Liberty was preparing for their Liberty Summit and working hard to recruit additional Local Coordinators to promote liberty in their own backyards.

As one of the attendees, I can proudly say that I was overwhelmed by Florida C4L’s tremendous turnout for the Summit! It is estimated that over 1,500people came to the Summit’s Liberty Celebration, which featured speakers including Congressman Ron Paul and Tom Woods.

Read Interim Florida State Coordinator Mark Cross’ report here.

And congratulations to Florida C4L for their continued success in recruiting Local Coordinators. Our last report noted that they had 159, and they have since added 44 for a nation-leading total of 203!

Keep up the great work!

Missouri:After the Missouri Information Analysis Center released their report attacking the freedom movement last March (which was eventually retracted after C4L members and others in the freedom community put enormous pressure on them), Missouri C4L members promised to hold those responsible for the report accountable and to do all in their power to prevent another such blatant abuse of power in their state.

On August 31, C4L Director of Membership Services Deb Wells, Interim Missouri State Coordinator Paul Hamby, and C4L member Larry Flinchpaugh testified before the Missouri House Interim Committee on State Intelligence Analysis Oversight. This committee is charged with taking recommendations about the MIAC back to the state legislature.

Read Paul’s report on what happened here, and thanks to all those in Missouri and every other state who are taking such courageous stands for the freedom movement.

California:On August 8, Sacramento Campaign for Liberty held an event called the “Federal Reserve Sunshine Day.”

As member Tom Davenport says, it was “an outdoor event to be held in an accessible, high traffic, high visibility location for the specific purpose of promoting Federal Reserve transparency in a non-partisan manner.” They decided to hold the event on “Second Saturday,” which Tom reports is a “long standing Sacramento tradition in which local art galleries, restaurants, bars, and businesses participate by keeping extended hours and holding special events.  Second Saturday is a draw not only for residents of Downtown and Midtown, but for residents of the greater Sacramento area as well, which made a perfect opportunity for exposure.”

Read his full account (including video) of what happened here. Congratulations to Sacramento C4L for their success with this event, which resulted in over 500 petitions signedfor Audit the Fed. Tom’s blog post also includes many helpful tips for those who are interested in holding a similar event.

Maryland:In Hartford County, local Campaign for Liberty members gathered outside of Congressman Frank Kratovil’s office on August 11 to protestthe latest government attempt to completely take over health care. Around 400 people gathered to make their views known, and they were able to garner some local press coverage from Fox 45.

The Hartford County Campaign for Liberty has been rapidly expanding, and we congratulate them on their success.  Their county blog reports they will be taking sevenfull buses to D.C. for the 9-12 March!

Across the country, your efforts are also continuing to gain media exposure.  In Tennessee, a local newspaper covered Campaign for Liberty members collecting and dropping off petitions for HR 1207 to Congressman Bart Gordon’s office.  In Arkansas, Regional Coordinator Rob Richard was interviewed by Greta Van Susteren on Fox News after asking a question during a town hall meeting on health care.  In Pennsylvania, York County Coordinator Michael Koffenberger was interviewed for 30 minutes on a cable access show called Uprisingsspecifically to discuss Campaign for Liberty, local events, the upcoming Northeast Regional Conference, and much more.

C4L members are using Congressman Paul’s new book, End the Fed, to educate their countrymen on the Federal Reserve and the dangers of fiat money. Brevard County C4L in Florida has a goalof placing a copy in every single Brevard County library, as well as in four college campus libraries.

You are not the usual brand of activist the establishment was expecting to easily dismiss. You are educated on the issues, passionate about our message, and confident in the real change that we can bring about by restoring our Constitution.

Wherever they turn, there you are.

At townhalls. In front of their offices. On their phones. In their inboxes. At county fairs. Writing to editorsof local papers.Knocking on doorsand recruiting even more supporters.

And later this month, we will gather to hold our biggest Regional Conference yet! Joining us in Valley Forge, PA on Sept. 17-19 will be an incredible roster of speakers including Congressman Ron Paul, Judge Napolitano, Daniel Hannan, Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, and Phil Giraldi. Don’t miss this chanceto hear from these leaders in our movement and to network and train with other C4L members. (Register using promotional code “Henry”to receive a free gift from C4L.)

Be sure to visit our Recent Member Blog Postssection at CampaignforLiberty.com to catch the latest news and reports from your fellow C4L members!

Do you have a state success story you want to see included in future installments? Send them along! Email any reports you would like to see highlighted to StateStories@CampaignforLiberty.com.

Thank you for all of the hard work you do in defense of our freedoms. May we proudly look back one day and know that when tyranny threatened on all sides, we answered the call, overcame the challenges, and took back our country.

In Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. Campaign for Liberty members are reclaiming our Republic, one neighborhood at a time. If you are able, pleasecontribute todayto help C4L spread the freedom message and awaken more Americans and people all over the world to the prosperity and peace offered by championing liberty.

No Compromise on Audit the Fed!

September 1, 2009

August 31, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Our grassroots Revolution has set its sights on restoring a sound monetary policy to our nation, and every day we are awakening more of our countrymen to the dangers of Federal Reserve secrecy and its stranglehold on our economy.

A year ago, no one in the political establishment would have believed that a bill to thoroughly audit the Fed would have almost two-thirds of the House (including every Republican representative and nearly one hundred Democrats) and a quarter of the Senate on board.

Certainly, no one would have bet that three-fourths of the American people would supportsuch an audit.

As many of you may have heard by now, recent statements from Representative Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, have indicated that the House will vote on Audit the Fed in the next few months.

However, rather than voting on HR 1207 as a standalone bill, many in Congress hope to roll it into the comprehensive regulatory reform package recently proposed by the White House.

This reform package grants new, more comprehensive powers to the Fed and strengthens the government’s control over our economy. C4L and other friends of liberty stand in opposition to this proposal, as well as any other attempt to convert this historic movement for transparency into yet another rubber-stamping of politics as usual.

It is imperative that Audit the Fed come before the House and Senate on its own merits.

The American people stand behind a thorough audit of the Fed, and we should not be adding additional powers when we don’t fully know what is being done with the ones they currently have.

Call Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office today at (202) 225-0100 and urge her to stand with the American people by giving the Audit the Fed bill full debate and a standalone vote on the House floor.

Click herefor contact information for your representatives and senators and ask them to get behind Audit the Fed if they have not yet done so. If they have already cosponsored, tell them to push for a roll call vote on HR 1207 and S 604 on the bills’ own merits.

Our movement has worked hard to bring transparency and accountability to one of the nation’s most secretive institutions. Audit the Fed has received a bipartisan level of support that is very rare in politics today.

Together, we can see a comprehensive audit of the Federal Reserve signed into law, but it should not be accompanied by more of the same interventionist legislation that helped create the current crisis.

In Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. Click hereto take action, and don’t forget to tell your family and friends about AuditTheFed.com, where they can view the coalition in support of transparency, sign a petition, and learn more about this historic effort.

Media Matters Hit Piece Attempts to Link Alex Jones and Glenn Beck

August 31, 2009

Kurt Nimmo

Infowars
August 30, 2009

On August 28, Media Matters posted a hit piece on Glenn Beck. In the article, Oliver Willis attempts to link the Fox News disinformation operative Beck to Alex Jones. “We’re used to Glenn Beck being ‘out there’, but today’s show was special,” writes Willis. “Beck’s hour (the second day in a row in which he didn’t say a thing about the passing of Sen. Kennedy) was all about the supposed secret army being built by President Obama. This secret army idea, not supported by any facts, though possibly written in invisible ink that Beck can interpret, is a pet cause of fringe radio host Alex Jones.”

In fact, during the election last year, Obama admitted his desire to create a national security force, what Mr. Willis calls a “secret army.” The U.S. “cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set” and needs a “civilian national security force,” he said. Obama said his national security force needs to be as well funded — to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars — as the U.S. military. See the video clip below.

The idea did not disappear after the election. On March 12, during a speech at the National Defense University, Obama said the following: “America must also balance and integrate all elements of our national power. We cannot continue to push the burden on to our military alone, nor leave dormant any aspect of the full arsenal of American capability. And that’s why my administration is committed to renewing diplomacy as a tool of American power, and todeveloping our civilian national security capabilities.” (Emphasis added.)

It gets worse. In January, without any recognizable corporate media coverage, Rep. Bob Filner, a California Democrat, introduced H.R. 675. The bill would amend title 10 of the United States Code and extend to civilian employees of the Department of Defense the authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms. The bill was referred to the Armed Services Committee on January 26, 2009. At approximately the same time, the DoD issued a Defense Directive 1404.10 that establishes a “DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce” and rescinds a prior Clinton era directive dealing with the emergency use of civilian personnel. The Obama administration describes the Civilian Expeditionary Workforce as follows:

Members of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce shall be organized, trained, cleared, equipped, and ready to deploy in support of combat operations by the military; contingencies; emergency operations; humanitarian missions; disaster relief; restoration of order; drug interdiction; and stability operations of the Department of Defense in accordance with DoDD 3000.05

In other words, Congress is busy proposing bills that would accomplish what Obama announced during his campaign speech in Colorado.

Mr. Willis and the Clintonite organized Media Matters are uncomfortable with the facts. Here is another one — the Obamas have organized a cadre for a civilian national security force since 1993. It’s called Public Allies and is modeled after the  communist Saul Alinsky’s “people’s organizations.” It is under the watchful eye of Michelle Obama. It has received $75 million per year from private donors, including the Rockefellers and the Ford Foundation.

In the lead up to the election, budding activists in the Marxist tradition of Alinsky were sent to Camp Obama. “Obama is not like other candidates, and part of this training is learning to mimic the methods he used before he was an elected official — back when he was a community organizer in Chicago following the textbook of legendary agitator Saul Alinsky,” the Chicago Sun Times reported in September, 2007. Camp Obama was described as a “national program for social change,” no doubt of the sort envisioned by Alinksy,  who once said: “From all our legends, mythology, and history… the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom – Lucifer.”

Incidentally, taking money from globalists and bankers is not a problem for Media Matters. In 2005, CNS News uncovered the fact David Brock, the former conservative turned liberal and Media Matters CEO, had taken money from the arch globalist George Soros. In addition, Media Matters receives money from Democracy Alliance. George Soros is a member of this “progressive” organization.

Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, wrote a book entitled “The Plan: Big Ideas for America.” In the book, Emanuel states: “It’s time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, all Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service.” (Emphasis added.)

Emanuel calls this a “new social contract,” that is to say an obligation imposed on the people by the government. “If you forget everything else you read in these pages, please remember this: The Plan starts with you. If your leaders aren’t challenging you to do your part, they aren’t doing theirs. We need a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us by establishing, for the first time, an ethic of universal citizen service,” writes Rahmbo. “Universal citizen service will bring Americans of every background together to make America safer and more united in common purpose.”

It’s a “common purpose” envisioned by George Soros, the communist Alinksy, the Ford Foundation, and globalist “progressives.”

Mr. Willis declares there is nothing sinister about AmeriCorps, created under former president Clinton — a member in good standing with the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and the Bilderberg Group. Clinton’s administration was a virtual Who’s Who of CFR members and globalists, apparently a good thing for liberals like Mr. Willis.

Here’s what Willis and Media Matters didn’t tell you about AmeriCorps — the legislation initially called for “a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people.” It anticipated requiring “all individuals in the United States” to become indentured servants for the government – including elementary school students. A Washington Examinereditorial on March 26, 2009, stated:

The bill also summons up unsettling memories of World War II-era paramilitary groups by saying the new program should “combine the best practices of civilian service with the best aspects of military service,” while establishing “campuses” that serve as “operational headquarters,” complete with “superintendents” and “uniforms” for all participants. It allows for the elimination of all age restrictions in order to involve Americans at all stages of life. And it calls for creation of “a permanent cadre” in a “National Community Civilian Corps.”

In short, the people who wrote the bill had the same totalitarian mindset as Joe Stalin and Mao.

No mention of the original bill or the mindset of its authors in Mr. Willis’ hit piece against Glenn Beck and Alex Jones. He mentions the fact George W. Bush was all for AmeriCorps and even met with AmeriCorps volunteers for Earth Day. But then “progressives” and those mesmerized by the false right-left paradigm always insist there is a difference between Democrats and Republicans and between Obama and Bush — never mind virtually nothing has changed under Obama, not the twin occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, not the unconstitutional surveillance of the American people, not the torture camps and the murder of hundreds of people in Pakistan — and certainly not the bogus global war on terror (although Obama’s people decided to play asemantic game with the term).

Finally, the article posted on the Media Matters website is a transparent effort to link Alex Jones to the Fox News disinformation operative Glenn Beck and thus discredit him. As a slick disinfo operative, Beck is tasked with taking down the truth and patriot movements by agreeing with their basic arguments while coming off as a kook that can be easily criticized and lampooned by the so-called “liberal” media, thus inflicting damage on the patriot community.

Addendum

Regardless of the philosophy of the Marxist Saul Alinsky, Obama is not a communist, a fact underscored by the heavy presence of CFR and Bilderberg members in his administration.

Lawrence Summers, the Director of the White House’s National Economic Council, is a former Chief Economist at the World Bank and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury under his long-time political mentor Robert Rubin, the former Director and Senior Counselor of Citigroup and Chairmen of Goldman Sachs. Summers is a member of the CFR. Timothy Geithner, the current United States Secretary of the Treasury, was previously the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Geithner also worked for Kissinger and Associates. In 2002 he left the Treasury to join the Council on Foreign Relations as a Senior Fellow in the International Economics department and was director of the Policy Development and Review Department at the International Monetary Fund.

“The council has gained a virtual lock-hold on the U.S. government, regardless of which party is in office,” writes John McManus. “No other organization comes close to boasting the kind of clout that the CFR members have held: eight presidents of the U.S.; seven vice presidents; 17 secretaries of state; 20 secretaries of war/defense; 18 secretaries of the Treasury; 15 directors of the CIA. And on it has gone throughout the Cabinets, in seriatim — through Democrat and Republican administrations — with hundreds of deputy secretaries, assistant secretaries, etc.”

One of Obama’s professors at Columbia Universality and an ardent supporter of his campaign — and his early foreign policy adviser — was Zbigniew Brzezinski. Brzezinski cofounded the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller, a director of numerous multinational corporations and “endowment funds” and a central figure in the Council on Foreign Relations.

“If the Council on Foreign Relations could be said to be a spawning ground for the concepts of one-world idealism, then the Trilateral Commission was the ‘task force’ assembled to assault the beachheads. Already the Commission had placed its members in the top posts the U.S. had to offer.” writes Patrick Wood.

Bankers and one-worlders are not communists in the traditional sense, although they have traditionally used that political ideology to consolidate and centralize power and influence.

“If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead, it becomes logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs,” wrote the late Gary Allen. “Communism or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite.”

Take Action to Stop the Health Control Scheme

August 27, 2009

August 26, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Make no mistake: there’s a strong, unrelenting push to destroy what remains of private health care in this country.

And now congressional leaders are attempting to overcome their scheme’s plunging approval numbers by manipulating Ted Kennedy’s death to create support for a “legacy” health care bill.

Our representatives and senators are eager to get back to Washington and away from the tremendous grassroots opposition to health control.

Which means it’s time for us to turn up the heat.

Click hereto get contact information to write, call, and fax Congress to express your outrage at their plans to finish taking over what remains of private health care.  And be sure to signour “Stop the Government Health Care Scheme” petition.

Health control propagandists claim that we are defending the status quo of a “failed” private sector by opposing their latest scheme.

However, their bill cementsthe status quo in health care: continuing (and expanding) government intrusion.

Protectionist regulations have decimated competition in health insurance at the local level, and the vast, complex tax code has subsidizedemployer-provided high cost health care. The FDA, in the name of consumer protection, has restricted the supply of drugs from home and abroad. And individuals are barred from shopping across state lines for health insurance.

Watch this YouTubevideo to see a ER physician describe how the government obstructs the supply of health services.

Does any of that really sound like the free marketat work to you?

Government-manipulated health care is bankrupting this country. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are drowning in tens of trillions of dollars worth of unfunded liabilities and red ink, yet the response from Congress is to propose more 1,000+ page bills that will move our health care system perilously close to other nations’ statist care.

You know as well as I that this unfair plan is doomed to be a fiscal nightmare comparable to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and that Congress-created HMOs are notorious for denying care to control spiraling costs.

Our nation has seen enough big government schemes, especially in medicine. President Obama is right about one thing: it’s time to take action.

It’s time to let the free market work.

Click herefor contact information for the House and Senate in order to demand real reform.  In addition to contacting your representative and senators, be sure to campaign hard for health freedom at your local townhall meeting.

Urge your representative to fight to allow individuals to shop across state lines for insurance, curb the authority of the FDA to prevent Americans from going outside the country for cheaper medications, and enable individuals to purchase their own health insurance without being taxed for doing so.

Tell Congress to give Americans control over their health care by giving them control over their health care dollar via tax credits and deductions similar to those outlined in Congressman Ron Paul’s Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR 1495).

Ask your congressman to protect privacy rights by allowing patients and physicians to opt-out of any government-mandated or funded system of electronic health care records, and to repeal the federal law creating an “unique patient identifier” by adopting the policies contained in Congressman Ron Paul’s Protect Patients and Physicians Privacy Act (HR 2630).

In the meantime, we can push for reform of our respective state’s competition-destroying mandateson private insurers.  These simple, common-sense reforms would immediately alleviate the costs of health care without adding to the exploding national debt.

And if you are able, please donateto Campaign for Liberty today so that we can educate Americans on a true free market health care system and defeat this latest health control scheme.

Don’t let the proponents of Obamacare sell you on the notion that we need the government to save us from the mess that government made.  Click hereto demand that Congress support legitimate health care reform!

We Need Sunlight to Disinfect the Legislative Process!

August 26, 2009

By Ron Paul
Published 08/25/09

During August recess, many legislators have heard an unexpected amount of discontent from their constituents about what is happening on Capitol Hill, particularly regarding healthcare. Some people are justifiably terrified at what the government could do to healthcare, should it get its claws even further into it. Others demand a public option for health insurance and are adamant that healthcare be treated as yet another absolute entitlement. One thing everyone agrees on is that the final bill needs to be read and understood by all legislators before a vote is taken. To any American, this is common sense. In Washington, that is unlikely to happen.

There is much confusion and debate over what is and is not in the reform plan being considered. Are there or are there not so-called death panels? What are the end-of-life consultations really for? How will private insurance be affected? Can you keep your current plan or will you eventually be forced into a government plan? Will it pay for elective abortions or not? What are the implications for medical privacy? The truth is no one knows what will be in the final bill until it is on the House floor, and provisions could be added in and taken out in the wee hours of the morning before.

In February, the House was forced to vote on an over 1,000 page “stimulus” bill that had first been posted on the internet just after midnight the morning of the vote. It passed. Then in June, House leaders rushed a vote on the cap-and-trade bill, even though an over 300 page “manager’s amendment” making substantive changes to the bill, was introduced shortly after 3:00 a.m. the morning of the vote.

Washington thrives on crisis. If enough people can be convinced that we are in an emergency, they will more likely tolerate rushing legislation to the floor like this. Last minute changes will be slipped in, benefitting who knows what special interests and at what expense to the taxpayer. But the mantra is repeated over and over: We are in a crisis. We must act immediately.

It should be unconscionable for legislators to vote in favor of legislation they have not had the opportunity to read. This is why I have re-introduced the Sunlight Rule, H.Res 216. The Sunlight Rule prohibits any piece of legislation from being brought before the House of Representatives unless it has been available to read for at least 10 days.

The Sunlight Rule allows citizens to move for censure of any House Member who votes for a bill in violation of this act. Because the Sunlight Rule could never be waived, any Member could raise a point of order requiring any bill in violation to be immediately pulled from the House calendar until it can be brought to the floor in a manner consistent with this rule. This rule does not require that Members read the bills. It merely guarantees the opportunity to do so. It has 4 cosponsors.

Justice Louis Brandeis famously said, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” The Sunlight Rule would do much towards negating the cycle of pseudo-crises and cleaning up the legislative process here in Washington. I sincerely hope this is the year Congress remembers its deliberative duties and passes it.

Obama Joker Posters Cited As “Hate Speech”

August 25, 2009

“Wow. People have really lost their fuckin minds. How that is hate speech is beyond me by a couple of light years. Man,  the government loves to use the race card when it suits them. This is a total non-issue. There is zero debate about this. Bush-Fuck would be getting same treatment, (probably much worse), doing the same absolutely horrible job Obama is doing. The image of Obama as the Joker & the word fascism has nothing to do with race. Period. End of story. Go smoke a joint and fuckin relax people. ”

Get involved and fight back against phony charges of hate speech — make a poster and enter The Poster Revolution contest.

A local Texas newspaper has cited the now iconic “Jokerbama” image as an example of hate speech after a military veteran reported the presence of the posters on light poles in his local area to City Hall officials.

The Hays Free Press carried the headline Freedom… of hate speech?on its front page late last week next to the Infowars version of the Jokerbama image, with the word “fascism” underneath.

The article notes that the appearance of the posters has been spearheaded by Alex Jones’ competition, but only cites negative feedback from a few local residents who they say have been taking the posters down:

“This is appalling,” [local resident] Lutrick said. “I served in the military. That’s my commander in chief.”

The article also quotes a City of Kyle spokesperson:

“Jerry Hendrix declined to comment about the nature of the fliers hung in the public right-of-way, but said they violate the city’s sign ordinance. If caught, the individual could be fined up to $2,000.”

“Whoever is doing it needs to stop,” Hendrix said. “It creates additional work for our code enforcement officer.”

Despite this threat of a fine, the article also notes that there are “no actual restrictions prohibiting” the placement of the posters.

Meanwhile, ABC affiliate KBMT News reported on the appearance of the posters in Tyler, Texas, noting that “Tyler police took photos and collected some of the posters as evidence,” as if they are investigating a crime.

Watch Alex Jones’ breakdown of this story from yesterday’s syndicated Sunday show (begins 8 mins in):

The censorship of the image online also continues with Yahoo owned photograph website Flickr now closing down discussion forums on the image in addition to removing the image from their pages.

Firas Alkhateeb, the artist behind the picture has said he plans to file a counterclaim against Flickr censorship of his image.

H.R. 645 and The FEMA Concentration Camps

August 24, 2009

Byron Tripp

August 23, 2009

Throughout the 20th Century, mankind’s governments have sought to gain control over their populations with food, water, bio-warfare, guns, tanks, militarized death squads, militarized police, propaganda, mis-information, entertainment, and  the good old original lie.  The United States and the West are no different than the “third world” banana republics and dictators; its just the methods the western democracies use have been refined through trial and error. The lies become bigger and the controlled corporate media outlets push the big lie so people end up believing anything the mainstream news endorses. Point of fact – alternative news media or sources are not generally believed by the public until the story breaks on a major news outlet. Enter the FEMA Camps.

Well, in order to understand the subject, we must define a few terms.  What indeed is a “camp” ? People have popularized conceptions of Dachau or Ashuwitz, gas chambers, ovens and guard towers with jackbooted thugs patrolling and killing indiscriminantly.   Is that really what a FEMA camp is or would be like?

Dictionary.com defines the word camp as a place where an army or other group of persons or an individual is lodged in a tent or tents or other temporary shelter. Dictionary.com goes on to define the word concentration as a state of concentrated.  To be precise, the same Website defined the term concentrated as cluster or gather together closely. From these definitions, I will deduce that a concentration camp is defined as a camp where facilities permanent or temporary, provide the means of clustering or gathering together closely persons or soldiers.

Martial law, New Orleans, 2005.

Now that we have gone through the terms of subject matter and expanded our minds, lets look briefly at some past concentration camps in American history.   First that comes to mind is the popular POW camp Andersonville during the War Between the States which was commanded by Confederate forces for the internment or concentration of Federal troops. The Federal or Union side of the conflict had its many concentration camps as well.  Second is the many Native American Indian reservations set up by the Federal Government after the War Between the States as a means of controlling the nomadic Indians of the Midwestern and Southwestern regions of the United States.   The “reservation” as it is still called was a piece of land reserved for the Indians by the Federal government while the US government endorsed the expansion of its citizens upon traditional Indian lands. Tensions boiled over as Federal troops would consistently come onto the reservations or concentration lands and interfere with the rituals and traditions of the Native Americans.  Sometimes this conflict would lead to an all out war between the Indian tribes being concentrated on the reservations.  Third, during World War 2, the United States government, fearing a threat from within from its Asian communities, collected, processed and interned or concentrated AMERICAN CITIZENS of Japanese descent in camps for the duration of the War.     Can one truly argue that these events did not take place?

Anyone reading this, the chances are that you are not going to get up in the morning and go through your morning routine and walk out your front door and see a FEMA concentration camp.  Why is that?  Remember the definitions of the terms we went over earlier?  Camps are often temporary, but can be permanent.  Existing structures such as a Football Stadium or even an airport hangar can be utilized to concentrate a group of dissidents or people deemed a security risk to the State.  There doesn’t necessarily have to be a Nazi-styled facilities to be a concentration camp. Ask yourselves this question:  We’re there any camps in New Orleans before Katrina hit? Not that I can recall.  But as soon as FEMA was on the scene, any old army-air force base or public facilities capable of sheltering or concentrating refugees from the disaster area became a concentration camp. Not a “death camp”   –   a concentration camp.  The most notable of these camps which became the symbol of the plight of the people in New Orleans who did not get out was the New Orleans Saints NFL Stadium. After the storm, Martial Law was declared.  FEMA, The National Guard and Blackwater (as it was then called)  all were utilized to confiscate guns and process refugees into these concentration camps, or relief shelters.  We’re law abiding citizens rights violated?  Often. We’re they exterminated systematically? No.   Check out this video of the Military Police and National Guard forcing people from their homes and confiscating firearms from law abiding people. And you say it can’t happen to you?  What if there is a national crisis, such as a “Swine Flu” outbreak and then everyone becomes a suspect.

Enter H.R. 645.   The National Emergency Centers Establishment Act was submitted by Democrat Alcee L Hastings of Florida.   The bill calls for Homeland Security to use KBR, a subdivision of Haliburton, to create no fewer than six national facilities for the concentration of civilian internees on military installations.

Enter Field Manual 3-19-40 Military Police Internment / Resettlement Field Operations.  This field manual is the basis of operations for the handling of all forms people in all situations.    From the definitions section of Chapter 1, we can be labeled a  CIVILIAN INTERNEE which as the manual defines is:

“CIVILIAN INTERNEE 1-7. A CI is a person who is interned during armed conflict or occupation if he is considered a security risk or if he needs protection because he committed an offense (insurgent, criminal) against the detaining power. A CI is protected according to the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (GC), 12 August 1949.”

The above definition is very broad. It fails to identify the “detaining power” (Can you say UN Forces deployed to US in the advent of Civil Unrest?)  It also states that the “civilian internee” needs “protection” because he committed an “offense”  – who makes these laws of what an “offense” is?  A military commander? An international treaty organization such as the UN or NATO?  A Global World Government?    Below is an example of a mid-level internment camp for the field of operations of the United States military.

CORPS HOLDING AREAS 3-55. A CHA (Figure 3-4) can hold more captives for longer periods of times than a central CP. Depending on the availability of MP units to establish I/R facilities, corps MP units must be prepared to hold captives at the CHA more than 72 hours. If the CHA keeps captives more than 72 hours, MP must plan and coordinate for the increased logistics and personnel required to operate a long-term facility. The decision to hold captives longer is based on METT-TC and the availability of forces. Captives remain in the CHA until they are evacuated to an I/R facility or until hostilities end.

Figure 3-4:  Corps Holding Area

Enter the REX 84 Program:     A plan for the continuity of Government in which dissidents would be rounded up and processed during the event of civil unrest in the United States. Fox New’s beloved Oliver North was involved in the planning of this operation. Representative of Oregon Democrat Peter DeFazio of the 4th District had this to say about the REX 84 Program during September of 2008 when the Stock Market crashed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, there is a plan that is in place to be executed by the Federals to lock down the cities and towns across our land and to begin gun confiscation.  There is a plan to deal with mass quarantining of the population and its subsequent internment and suspension of the Constitutional rights of Citizens.   Now that you know, you can plan with this in mind when a “national emergency” is declared and some group of unscrupulous people seek to gain total control over the population or portions of political dissidents – you now know what power the Federals will not hesitate to utilize for their insidious ends.

I will end my presentation with a quote from a speech that everyone knows. The “give me liberty” speech by Patrick Henry.   What is not well known is is down to earth way of looking at the colonists situation:

“Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir.”  –  Patrick Henry, March 23,  1775

Thousands Protest Obamacare Around the Country on Saturday

August 24, 2009

Infowars
August 23, 2009

On Saturday, thousands of Americans opposed to Obamacare demonstrated outside the offices of Congress critters around the country. “The organizers who brought the Tax Day Tea Party to cities around the nation this spring recruited thousands of protesters Saturday afternoon to anti-health care reform rallies staged in front of at least 100 Congressional district offices,” the Washington Post reports.

Dubbed the National Recess Rally, the nationwide event was organized to counter stage-managed pro-Obamacare events. “People just want government to stay out of their health care,” Eric Odom, executive director of American Liberty Alliance, a Libertarian organization, told the Post. “It was very little about the cost and more about government intrusion.”

According to Fox News, the American Liberty Alliance, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity worked with The Sam Adams Alliance to organize the events.

“Obviously the idea behind this was to have a unified day for those concerned about government-controlled health care to talk outside their representatives’ offices,” Paul Miller, spokesman for The Sam Adams Alliance, a Chicago-based political organization, told Fox.

Remarkably, the corporate media gave the event a modest amount of coverage, albeit often with a typical pro-Obama spin. The Mercury News, for instance, ran the following headline on an article covering the event: “White anger fueling health care debate.”

As increasing number of Americans protest the government take-over of health care, race-baiting and sensationalistic and biased headlines, news articles, and corporate media television coverage will no longer work.

The Pogues (w/ Shane) In Austin, TX

August 23, 2009

Sweeeeet, I got tickets to see the Pogues, (Original Line-up), at Stubb’s. Shane is one of the few people I would plunk down $45 dollars to see. To see one of the best song writers of the 21st century, (even if he is mumbling & piss drunk), I’ll dish out my hard earned money. Not to mention an incredibly talented tight band. I think their touring the country, so, look em up.

(TEXAS) State law changes way police draws blood from suspected drunk drivers

August 23, 2009

VampireCops

“Vamp” Art Acevedo- Austin, Texas Police Chief

By SHELTON GREEN
KVUE News

A little known Texas law which goes into effect September 1, 2009 will dramatically change the way Texas law enforcement officers draw blood from suspected drunk drivers.

The way it stands now, a person involved in an accident will automatically have his or her blood drawn if they’re involved in an accident where there’s a death or serious bodily injury.  However, Senate Bill 328, which passed in the last Texas legislative session, means that anyone involved in a crash, whether they’re suspected of drunk driving or not and where there’s bodily injury, severe or not, or has a child in their car, or previous D.W.I. convictions, will have blood drawn automatically within a matter of minutes.

“I was just sick and tired of Texas law that allowed the defendant to destroy the very evidence that we need to protect society,” said John Bradley, the Williamson County District Attorney.

Currently police officers in Texas have to get a search warrant to draw a person’s blood.  Bradley says the process can take up to several hours.

Under S.B. 328 an officer doesn’t need a search warrant changing the blood drawing process from hours to a matter of minutes.

“Police officers are going to be saved a lot of time and energy and trouble in their D.W.I. investigations and be able to directly collect the most powerful evidence of intoxication which is the blood and the body of the drunk person,” added Bradley.

The Williamson County D.A. says he approached Senator Dan Gattis of Williamson County about authoring S.B. 328 after the December 2003 arrest of Gary Gibbs, a truck driver who was stopped in Georgetown because other drivers saw him weaving while he was driving an 18-wheeler truck.

Gibbs had seven prior D.W.I. convictions and on his 8th he was sentenced to life in prison.

Some in the community are now questioning the constitutionality of S.B. 328.

“I’m quite sure that this is going to wind up in courts,” said Jody Barton, an attorney with the Texas Civil Rights Project.

“We’re going down this road of taking away more and more liberties and laws like this don’t really do anything to stop drunk driving all they really do is give the police more power to intrude upon people’s liberties,” adds Barton.

In Austin and in Williamson County staff members are being trained as pflebotomists to draw blood.

However Bradley told KVUE that there are some jurisdictions in Texas where police officers themselves are being trained to draw blood.

Ron Paul- “The Free Market as Regulator.”

August 22, 2009

By Ron Paul
Published 08/21/09

Since the bailouts last fall, lawmakers have been behaving as quasi-owners of the bailed-out banks and businesses, leading to calls for increased regulation of executive compensation and other wasteful expenditures. We have heard much about bonuses and executive pay packages that sound more like lottery winnings than an honest salary.

Many lawmakers voted in favor of these unconstitutional bailouts, believing that these corporations were too big to fail, and allowing them to go under would precipitate widespread economic disaster. This second wave of citizen outrage at the bailouts has left these lawmakers with a bit of egg on their face, and once again, they feel the need to “do something” to “fix” it. Shouldn’t there be a regulatory structure in place governing executive compensation? Politically, it seems quite feasible. People are outraged that the system has once again gutted the many to make a few at the top fantastically wealthy. But they are incorrectly demonizing the free market.

What we need to realize is that there WAS a regulatory structure in place that was attempting to stop bad management, including overpaying executives. That regulatory structure is the free market, and when poor management brought these companies to the point of bankruptcy, Congress circumvented the wisdom of the free market, and inserted its own judgment at our expense. And now because of that intervention, we will burdened with massive new regulations. We can be certain this effort will fail.

The free market is a naturally occurring phenomenon that can’t be eliminated by governments, not even totalitarian ones like the former Soviet Union. It can be regulated, over-taxed and manipulated until it is driven underground. Lately it has been wrongly accused of doing so many things it just doesn’t do, that are really the fault of crony corporatism and convoluted government policies that brought on the crisis. Too many people equate the free market with big business doing whatever it wants, but that is not the free market. Unconstitutional taxpayer funded bailouts are what allow giant corporations to run roughshod over the economy. The free market is what puts them out of business when they misbehave.

The free market is you and your neighbors working hard to produce what you produce, and exchanging goods and services voluntarily, in mutually agreeable arrangements. The free market is about respecting property rights and contracts. It is not about building up oligarchs and monopolies and confiscatory tax theft — these are creatures of government.

We must watch out when government comes up with interventionist solutions to interventionist problems. The root of our problems lie in interventionism. Trusting the free market is the solution.

State Sovereignty Movements Gaining Support

August 18, 2009

wakeupamerica

August 10, 2009 by Bob Livingston

Not since the rebellion in America was quashed in 1865 with the surrender of Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant has so much attention been paid to state sovereignty as is being paid today.

More than 35 states have passed or are considering state sovereignty amendments, according to the Tenth Amendment Center. Just before leaving office, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin signed a bill declaring that state’s sovereignty, joining Tennessee Gov. Phil Bresdesen in that regard.

States are finally becoming fed up with the increasingly dangerous non-Constitutional overreach of the Federal Government, and State Legislatures are working to stop it.

Unfortunately, many of today’s voting-age Americans have never even read the U.S. Constitution. Apparently, most civics classes in public schools today dwell on other things. So far too many people have no clue how far their government has overreached and taken away their liberty.

But here’s the truth: the Constitution gives the three branches of government certain enumerated powers. Those not enumerated are reserved to the states, and to the people.

The 10th Amendment describes it: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, or prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Yet despite that, since the Southern states were prohibited from removing themselves from an alliance that no longer worked in their favor—an alliance they entered into voluntarily—the U.S. government has grown increasingly more powerful. It could do so because the last remaining restraints on its power—the option that states had to leave the union—had been eliminated.

Here’s what has transpired since: During reconstruction the Republican Party centralized government, subsidized railroads, raised taxes on Southern property and businesses—then confiscated the property when taxes couldn’t be paid—and established an education system that taught a revisionist history of the run-up to and causes of the war (and the government-run education system continues this today). Congress also continued the first income tax—an unconstitutional act—that had been implemented by Pres. Abraham Lincoln.

In 1917 Congress established the Federal Reserve, a non-Constitutional entity with the power to control the U.S. money supply. In the 1930s, in response to The Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt pushed through New Deal provisions that further empowered the Federal Government while enriching certain constituencies. And now, in response to the global financial crisis, first President George W. Bush then President Barack Obama pushed through extra-constitutional spending bills. Obama then compounded the problems by nationalizing the financial and automobile markets; an action, again, that benefitted certain constituencies.

And now the Federal Government is proposing an even further overreach by attempting to enact legislation to cap carbon dioxide emissions and tax energy companies that exceed arbitrarily set limits of the element, and to restrict your access to adequate healthcare.

It seems from the mood of many in our country we may have reached a tipping point as a result of these latest actions. Radio talk shows are alive with voices proposing—demanding even—that America return to the Constitutional roots. Protests denouncing the growing government are increasing in frequency and support.

Unfortunately, many in America still don’t understand what all the hubbub is about. So, to help them understand, here are 10 talking points from the Tenth Amendment Center:

  1. The People created the federal government to be their agent for certain enumerated purposes only. The Constitutional ratifying structure was created so it would be clear that it was the People, and not the States, that were doing the ratifying.
  2. The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that which has been delegated by the people to the Federal Government, and also that which is absolutely necessary to advancing those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. The rest is to be handled by the State Governments, or locally, by the people themselves.
  3. The Constitution does not include a congressional power to override state laws. It does not give the judicial branch unlimited jurisdiction over all matters. It does not provide Congress with the power to legislate over everything. This is verified by the simple fact that attempts to make these principles part of the Constitution were soundly rejected by its signers.
  4. If the Congress had been intended to carry out anything they claim would promote the “general welfare,” what would be the point of listing its specific powers in Article I, Section 8, since these would’ve already been covered?
  5. James Madison, during the Constitutional ratification process, drafted the “Virginia Plan” to give Congress general legislative authority and to empower the national judiciary to hear any case that might cause friction among the states, to give the congress a veto over state laws, to empower the national government to use the military against the states, and to eliminate the states’ accustomed role in selecting members of Congress. Each one of these proposals was soundly defeated. In fact, Madison made many more attempts to authorize a national veto over state laws, and these were repeatedly defeated as well.
  6. The Tenth Amendment was adopted after the Constitutional ratification process to emphasize the fact that the states remained individual and unique sovereignties; that they were empowered in areas that the Constitution did not delegate to the Federal Government. With this in mind, any Federal attempt to legislate beyond the Constitutional limits of Congress’ authority is a(n) usurpation of state sovereignty—and unconstitutional.
  7. Tragically, the Tenth Amendment has become almost a nullity at this point in our history, but there are a great many reasons to bring it to the forefront. Most importantly, though, we must keep in mind that the Founders envisioned a loose confederation of states—not a one-size-fits-all solution for everything that could arise. Why? The simple answer lies in the fact that they had just escaped the tyranny of a king who thought he knew best how to govern everything—including local colonies from across an ocean.
  8. Governments and political leaders are best held accountable to the will of the people when government is local. Second, the people of a state know what is best for them; they do not need bureaucrats, potentially thousands of miles away, governing their lives. Think about it. If Hitler had ruled just Berlin and Stalin had ruled just Moscow, the whole world might be a different place today.
  9. A constitution which does not provide strict limits is just the thing any government would be thrilled to have, for, as Lord Acton once said, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
  10. We agree with historian Kevin Gutzman, who has said that those who would give us a “living” Constitution are actually giving us a dead one, since such a thing is completely unable to protect us against the encroachments of government power.

If you want to first halt then reverse the tide of government overreach, pass these points around to your friends and send them to your state and U.S. representatives.

Audit the Fed . Com

August 14, 2009

August 13, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

As you and I both know, Campaign for Liberty is leading the fight to pass Ron Paul’s bill to
Audit the Fed.  With 282 cosponsors in the House and 23 in the Senate, your efforts have so far proven very successful in establishing large, bipartisan support for Federal Reserve transparency.  We’ve come a long way in demonstrating to the nation that monetary policy is a critical issue, and every day more and more people are waking up to the harm that the Fed has caused our economy.

But our mission is not yet complete.  There are more Americans to educate, more signatures to collect, and more work to be done to combat the “big guns” that have come out against Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill.  That’s why today I’m proud to announce that we’ve taken the next step in our efforts by launching
AuditTheFed.com, a focused, coalition website with one purpose: to push this historic piece of legislation through Congress, past the President’s desk, and into law.

AuditTheFed.com includes:
contact informationfor your congressman and senators, petitions, widgets, and bannersto promote the website, dynamic graphs of the bill’scosponsors, a detailed summaryof the Audit the Fed bill, a list of our growingcoalition, a blog to keep you up to date on all the latest Audit the Fed news, a sign up for email updates, and social networksto help get the word out online.  This website was designed to put you, the liberty-loving activist, in a position to efficiently and effectively promote Audit the Fed to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.

This new website is the latest addition to our efforts to Audit the Fed, but it is by no means the culmination.  Stay tuned to CampaignforLiberty.comin the coming days for information on how we plan to mobilize to gain not only more cosponsors for HR 1207 and S 604, but support for a vote in the House and Senate.

For Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. If you are able, please consider donatingto Campaign for Liberty today to help ensure Audit the Fed becomes law and we can finally bring transparency and accountability to one of our country’s most secretive institutions.

Cash for Clunkers

August 13, 2009

wylercashforclunkers

By Ron Paul

Published 08/11/09

The Cash for Clunkers program has received a lot of attention this week on Capitol Hill and across the country. The program offers a voucher of up to $4500 in federal funds to anyone who trades in a working used car for a new one with better fuel economy. Congress was shocked at how quickly people responded to promises of free money and drained the program, while car dealers have been equally shocked at how slow and arduous the government’s website to claim the rebates has been.

It’s not a shock that people respond to incentives. The program has been deemed a resounding success, and Congress has authorized 2 billion more taxpayer dollars for it. But not everyone is happy about this. Low-income earners who would have been in the market for those perfectly serviceable, working cars will have fewer to choose from, and those cars will probably be more expensive than they normally would have been. Automotive repair shops actively lobbied against this program, as it will destroy many of the cars they would have repaired. They were out-lobbied. And of course, Americans as a whole are hurt, because this additional bailout of auto companies comes at our expense through inflation.

I have introduced a somewhat similar bill that would have provided a much better alternative to Cash for Clunkers because it does not rely on increased government bureaucracy or spending. My bill HR 1768 provides tax credits to people trading in used cars for new cars with better fuel economy. There is a big difference, in my mind, between letting people keep their own money versus giving them someone else’s. It is clear which one a free and fair society would choose. Not only that, but my bill would not have required working, serviceable cars to be destroyed for scrap metal.

Cash for Clunkers is a popular program right now, but in the larger scheme of things it does very little towards accomplishing its stated goals. Requiring cars to be destroyed and new ones made to replace them might help the auto industry in the short run, but any improved fuel economy will not make up for the environmental impact of junking one car and making a new one. So this is not a program that should really make environmentalists happy.

There is also much evidence that the boost in demand for autos, that has made dealers happy, is just borrowed demand from the past and the future. In other words, many have put off purchases they would have made anyway because they were waiting to see what the government would do. Others who would have waited a little longer to trade in a vehicle are accelerating their decisions so they can get in before the money runs out. So I would not be surprised to find that this artificial boom in auto sales is followed by an extended drop. This should serve as a very tangible example of how government meddling in the economy creates booms and busts. While everyone loves the booms, the busts are what creates the crises that government thrives on, and that is what we really need to watch out for!

Part 5: 08/12/2009 Freedom Watch 27 w/ Tom Woods, Ron Paul, Nick Gillespie, and more

(Debra Medina) Third candidate might be GOP weather vane (TX Gov.)

August 13, 2009

debra_medina1

by Bruce Davidson

Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison have been in office a long time.

Both started their political careers in the Texas House. Both were elected to statewide office for the first time in 1990.

Hutchison was elected as state treasurer and then in 1993 won a special election to the U.S. Senate. She still holds that job today but plans to run for governor in 2010.

After two terms as Texas agriculture commissioner, Perry was elected as lieutenant governor in 1998 and then stepped up to governor when George W. Bush was elected president. He is expected to run for governor again in 2010.

Considering their long records as Republican officeholders, you might assume a Republican activist would be torn between supporting one of the other next year.

But in Debra Medina’s case, that assumption would be wrong. And she hopes a majority of rank-and-file GOP voters agree with her.

The former Wharton County Republican chairman is presenting a third option in the GOP gubernatorial primary.

Medina is a Ron Paul-style Republican.

“I certainly have grown up politically under his tutelage,” she said of Paul, noting that she lives in the former presidential candidate’s congressional district and worked in his 2008 re-election campaign.

She left her post as Wharton County GOP chairman to join the gubernatorial race.

“I looked closely at the race and knew that I didn’t like the options,” Medina said.

Medina said she has a problem with Republican politicians who espouse conservative values but don’t follow through with public policy.

She views Perry and Hutchison as that type of politician. In her eyes, they are part of a political aristocracy that doesn’t respond to the wishes and needs of average people.

“I’m tired of being lied to,” said Medina, a 47-year-old Beeville native who home-schooled both of her children.

Medina, a registered nurse and businesswoman, says the time has arrived for new leadership to challenge the oligarchy.

In addition to running for governor, she is trying to encourage a new wave of outsider conservatives to challenge GOP incumbents in the Texas House and Senate.

Medina wants elected officials that will fight for the goals of the GOP platform. Her key issue is eliminating the property tax in Texas and replacing with a broader sales tax. She wants to reduce spending and cut what she views as an alarming state debt.

Medina probably won’t raise a lot of money compared to her opponents, but she is striving to tap into the deep unrest marked by the “tea party” movement.

In fact, she organized campaign teams to spread the word about her candidacy at 45 tea parties around the state on April 15.

And she is campaigning across the state full time as the schedule on her Web site indicates.

Of course, the odds that either Perry or Hutchison will be the GOP gubernatorial nominee in 2010 are overwhelming. They have money and long-entrenched political machinery.

But Medina’s candidacy will provide valuable information about the modern Texas GOP.

How many GOP voters are fed up with veteran politicians in general? How deep is the overall discontent among grass-roots conservatives?

Does the maverick network that supported Paul have real muscle in Texas? If Medina were to crack double-digits, what would that say about party leadership?

Medina may have trouble breaking into the headlines, but her candidacy is well worth watching.

Obama Promises Solution to Mexico Trucking Conflict After Meeting Calderon

August 11, 2009

http://whatreallyhappened.com/ Commentary:

The question is, just how is Obama looking to resolve this?

The unrestricted delivery of materials from Mexico to the US will be great for the corporations whose products will be shipped across the border, and potentially catastrophic for American truckers, both union and independent.

Who’s going to inspect the trucks for safety?

What about the insurance on these vehicles, and what happens if they get involved in an accident?

Who is going to certify that each driver drives well enough, and speaks English well enough to be permitted to drive in the US?

And just how is the program going to be paid for, considering that the US is dead broke, and that state of dead broke isn’t going to go away any time soon.

obama-calderon

By Nicholas Johnston and Jens Erik Gould

Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama told his Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderon that he is committed to resolving a dispute over truck access to U.S. highways.

Obama said he will also address safety concerns about the trucks raised by the U.S. Congress, an administration official said after the two leaders met in Guadalajara yesterday at a summit of North American leaders. Calderon told Obama that the dispute has hurt trade, raised consumer costs and reduced job creation, according to a statement from his press office.

Removing restrictions that prevent Mexican trucks from delivering goods across the border has been a top issue for Calderon since the U.S. Congress, citing safety concerns, ended a pilot program in March that allowed some trucks access. Mexico retaliated by imposing $2.4 billion in tariffs on U.S. goods after the program ended, affecting companies such as Procter & Gamble Co., the world’s largest household-products maker.

U.S. exporters such as Appleton Papers Inc. of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Mary Kay Inc., the Dallas-based cosmetics seller, have urged Obama to reach an agreement to put Mexican trucks back on U.S. roads and end the tariffs imposed on makers of paper, batteries, toothpaste and grapes.

Closely held Appleton is a member of the Alliance to Keep U.S. Jobs, a group of companies formed to fight the tariffs. Other members include Caterpillar Inc., Smithfield Foods Inc. and PepsiCo Inc.

Nafta and Trucks

As part of the North American Free Trade Agreement, the U.S. agreed to allow Mexican trucks unrestricted access to deliver goods in the U.S., a pledge it has never fully honored because safety advocates and union officials say Mexico’s trucks and drivers don’t meet U.S. standards. Nafta rules would also have allowed Mexican trucks to pick up cargo to return to Mexico.

Around 4,500 Mexican trucking companies represented by the National Freight Transportation Chamber, known as Canacar, said in June they were seeking $6 billion in compensation from the U.S. because of the trucking conflict, alleging its northern neighbor wasn’t complying with Nafta.

In 2008, the U.S. and Mexico had $368 billion in trade, making Mexico the third-largest U.S. trading partner after Canada and China, according to the Commerce Department.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is sharing a set of principles about the truck dispute with the Mexican government and with members of the U.S. Congress, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in a speech today in Washington.

“LaHood is trying to shop those principles to both sides,” Locke told the Council of the Americas, a business group whose members support free trade and open markets.

After their meeting, Obama and Calderon joined Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper for dinner and a performance by a mariachi troupe. The three plan more meetings today.

Drug Fight

Calderon and Obama also discussed cooperation on fighting drug cartels through the Merida Initiative, a three-year, $1.1 billion package of aid to Mexico that includes helicopters, intelligence sharing, and police training.

The U.S. is withholding 15 percent of the Merida funds until the State Department deems that Mexico has made progress on human rights. In today’s meeting, Obama underscored the importance of human rights and said Mexican progress on the issue will aid its fight against the drug cartels, the U.S. official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Obama and Calderon also discussed the importance of coordination before a possible rebound of the deadly H1N1 swine flu, the Mexican statement said. The two presidents agreed to synchronize efforts to track the spread of the disease and prepare for outbreaks, the U.S. official said.

Swine Flu

In May, the swine flu outbreak battered the Mexican economy as the government closed schools and restaurants, and foreign tourism revenue plunged. The flu may reduce Mexico’s gross domestic product 0.5 percent this year, according to central bank Governor Guillermo Ortiz.

Mexico recorded 146 deaths from swine flu among 17,416 total cases, the health ministry said Aug. 4. There were 43,771 cases worldwide of H1N1 flu and 302 deaths as of July 24, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Canada’s Harper told Calderon during a meeting yesterday that he won’t lift a requirement that Mexicans obtain visas before visiting the country. Canada announced the rule last month after a surge in refugee claims from Mexico.

The visa rule “has nothing to do with our bilateral relationship or broader issues; it is simply a control measure while we have problems in the refugee system,” Harper told reporters after the meeting. “It is not the fault of the government of Mexico, very clearly. This is a problem of the Canadian refugee law.”

Harper said he hopes Canadian lawmakers will work to streamline the way refugee claims are dealt with. Harper is in a minority government and needs support from opposition lawmakers to amend the immigration system.

End Dangerous ID

August 11, 2009

August 10, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Unbelievably, Congress and the Obama administration are currently trying to resurrect the failed REAL ID Act, more accurately named “Dangerous ID.”

Dangerous ID, which passed in 2005, establishes a de facto National Identification System, and opens the doors for Federal biometric tracking of every American citizen

Fortunately, no state currently complies with the burdensome mandates of the 2005 bill, and twenty-three have passed legislation refusing compliance.

So what does the Obama Administration want to do?

You guessed it: “Fix it,” and ram it down states’ throats.

Well, I say “Repeal it.”  What do you say?

You see, as Obama Administration Surveillance Czar Janet Napolitano pushes for a revamp of the system to get the invasive federal program up and running, there has never been a better time to for us to push back, and fight for an outright repeal of the original legislation

And although Dangerous ID is a clear attempt to establish a National ID System, the reality might be much worse — an INTERNATIONAL Identification System.  That’s why it is so critical we get that law off the books.

You see, Dangerous ID actually requires that driver’s license photographs meet United Nation’s biometric format standards.  At this level of sophistication, government software can analyze facial characteristics and generate a unique identification number.

Think about that for a moment — your identity will be reduced to a single number in an international database that can be tracked globally by one-world government surveillance cameras and facial recognition software

Last month, Senator Daniel Akaka introduced The PASS ID Act to tweak the 2005 Dangerous ID legislation and ram this program into action over state opposition.

Supporters claim this REAL ID Redux bill softens requirements on states, supposedly making the breach of federalism a little more palatable.  But it is merely a transparent attempt to get the Dangerous ID system implemented in any form, only to be augmented later to meet government’s needs.

In fact, there is evidence that this reincarnated Dangerous ID bill could wind up being worse than the original.

Chief among the bill’s supporters is Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, who stands to wield expansive and virtually unchecked power to set standards.

Under Dangerous ID, Napolitano can unilaterally expand required information on driver’s licenses, potentially to include biometric information such as retinal scans, fingerprints, DNA information, and even Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) radio tracking technology.

If international databases, RFID and biometric identification cards, and constant government surveillance are as alarming to you as they are to me, I hope you’ll click here to sign Campaign for Liberty’s petitionto stop REAL ID Redux and repeal Dangerous ID.

This is an important battle, and one we CAN win.

Just look at all the success stories in states that opted out of the Dangerous ID system.  In many cases, local C4L groups were instrumental in passing that legislation.

If REAL ID Redux passes, the new federal “concessions” may sucker many states into compliance.

That’s why it is so important that we defeat this reincarnation of Dangerous ID at the federal level, and take advantage of this national conversation to repeal the original bill.

So please, click here to sign the petitionurging your Senators and Representative to stop this so-called “PASS ID” and finally repeal the original Dangerous ID legislation.

And please, make a generous contribution to help Campaign for Liberty spread the word about this important fight.

In Liberty,

John F. Tate
President

P.S. REAL ID (a.k.a. “Dangerous ID”) is back on the move with a revamped version called PASS ID

To stop this move toward a National and International database and biometric ID Card, click here to sign the petitionurging Congress to stop REAL ID Redux and finally repeal Dangerous ID.  And please, make a generous contribution to help Campaign for Liberty spread the word.

Ron Paul: Government Is A Failure

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, founder of the advocacy group Campaign for Liberty, spoke on a number of issues yesterday including the growing opposition to socialized healthcare, the threat of martial law, his ongoing effort to audit the Federal Reserve and the prospect of running for president in 2012.

Below are the highlights of the Congressman’s comments followed by video of the full interview.

Ron Paul on the Obama administration’s healthcare proposals:

“It is nationalized healthcare, this pretence that it isn’t completely just means that there is some transition involved. Their goal is to have one party payer, which means that they control everything. And there’s a lot of other bad things in too like this effort to consult with anybody who’s over a certain age and talk to them about end of life type of procedures.”

“This bill is just such an outrage, the American people see it for what it is, it’s going to cost a lot of money, their care is not going to be improved, and special interests will be served.”

Ron Paul on the spate of protests at town hall meets:

“I don’t remember seeing the people so angry as they are now, but I think what they have discovered is that the government is a failure… I think a lot of people have come to the realisation that you can’t trust government.”

“That’s a healthy start. It is our job now to fill the void and tell them what the role of government ought to be, so that we can take all this energy and anger and redirect it.”

Ron Paul on government use of fear tactics:

“Up until now they have been able to use fear as their best tactic, and whether it’s on foreign policy issues or domestic policy issues, that’s how that first TARP fund went through… If things get worse, they’ll say this is more reason than ever for the government to take over and of course we still have the threat of martial law coming in because they havn’t forgotten about that and I don’t think they’d hesitate to use it.”

“It’s pure propaganda to get us involved overseas, it’s war propaganda saying someone is going to attack us with a nuclear weapon if we don’t go in and invade other countries. The same way you domestically scare people.”

“When you hear these stories about the use of force and the use of martial law and the tremendous invasion of our privacy, that to me is scary, nothing is private anymore, everything in the government is secret and your privacy is non existent, that is where the real problem is, we need to reverse that sentiment.”

Ron Paul on talk of mandatory swine flu inoculations:

“I don’t like the mass treatment of people, it’s just bad medicine. That doesn’t mean I have an attitude that inoculations are never good, matter of fact I think polio was truly eradicated by inoculations, well a small part. But the question is should government be making massive decisions, when in the Constitution there is not supposed to be any government involvement at all.”

Ron Paul on the effort to audit the Federal Reserve:

“We worry about how much pressure and how much authority the Fed has, but because we’ve done our grassroots work, we’ve gotten the large majority of members of Congress to support our auditing bill. And that didn’t come from me persuading the Congressman, that came from exactly what is going on at these town hall meetings, people being upset. In this way I think we are harnessing the energy in the correct way.”

“Once we hit the 290 cosponsors, which means we’ll have two thirds vote, or the 300, right in that area, I think that’s the time I’m going to really start putting pressure on the leadership to bring this up. So far they’re indicating that they are going to bring the bill up in a mixture of other bills, but they might get bogged down, so I think after we go back you may be hearing some announcements on where we want to direct our energies because we have such great momentum on that issue.”

“It’s a little bit more than Bernanke shaking hands with somebody… it’s the immorality of the system, the violation of the Constitution, the idea that you can print money, the idea that gold is evil, and that deficits don’t matter. It’s a philosophical argument that is so crucial, and we’ve suffered from it.”

“I think eventually they are going to use national security as an excuse to keep the books closed. A lot of times what the CIA does is use national security… because they do use funds to get involved in foreign affairs, because they can make deals with other governments, other central banks, other international financial organisations, and that’s the kind of stuff they don’t want us to know about.”

Ron Paul on the future of the economy and false optimism:

“There is a limit to how long they can fool the people, if you’ve been out of work and you don’t have enough money to feed your kids, and you listen to this you just don’t buy into this stuff. I’ve always argued that the people are always ten to fifteen years ahead of Congress.”

“There will be a time when the psychology changes, when it turns into a rout, and that’s what they can’t control. But I don’t think there will be a bank holiday, that will help cause panic… they’re not going to close the banks, they’re going to keep the presses running. They don’t default by not paying the bills… if they can inflate by 50% they’ve just defaulted on half of the debt.”

Ron Paul on Obama’s plummeting ratings:

“I don’t think he’ll be reelected but it’s way way to early to know that for sure, his circumstances are much more difficult. I often thought early on whether he would be like Roosevelt and never get blamed for anything… but I think Obama is going to receive some of the blame and rightfully so.”

Ron Paul on running for president in 2012:

“In which country?!!”

“I have no plans for that, I wouldn’t be able to make a decision on that today, it’s such a long way off.”

The Start Of The Second American Revolution?

August 9, 2009

Health Overhaul Protest

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Friday, August 7, 2009

For a long time people have been asking why Americans are not up in arms, screaming and shouting about their fast disappearing liberties along with the continuous passage of legislation that they vehemently oppose, from the banker bailout, to the cap and trade bill, to Obamacare. Well now they are screaming and shouting – and if the momentum continues to build, this rebellion could the spark to ignite the second American revolution.

Tampa, Florida

For those waiting for a “summer of rage” it has now arrived – outraged Americans across the country are exercising their first amendment rights to do the most American thing imaginable – speaking truth to power through non-violent civil disobedience.

Elkhart County, Indiana

At first the establishment left media attempted to attack the credibility of the protests by claiming that they were the work of health insurance company lobbyists – but when that fizzled after ABC News reported that there were no lobbyists present at the demonstrations, the attack dogs shifted their rhetoric to claim that the protesters were Nazis and right-wing extremists.

Detroit

Meanwhile, at the same time media apologists for the administration are labeling the protesters as violent and dangerous extremists, Obama supporters are beating up Obamacare protesters while foundation-funded organizations like ACORN, MoveOn.org, the National Council of La Raza, the eugenics front Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and the Clintonite John Podesta’s war-mongering Center for American Progress are supporting moves to chill free speech and eliminate protesters at town hall meetings.

Austin, Texas

The only people acting like Nazi brownshirts are the White House front groups who are now calling for the police to crack heads and silence voices of dissent.

The desperation on behalf of the Obama administration and its mouthpieces in their attempts to denounce the protests is clearly evident, to the point where they are now compiling an enemies list via snitch tips sent to them via the White House website in order to try and neutralize the growing anger.

Philadelphia

Another talking point now making the rounds is that it is uncivil and belligerent to become rowdy at town hall meetings, when in fact nothing could be more Americana, nothing could be more in spirit with the legacy of the founding fathers and the very soul of the country.

Arkansas

The establishment is scared to death that Americans may see beyond the scope of their partisan divisions and come together to stand up in unison against the offshore bankers and corporations that run the White House, which is why the constant politicized drumbeat that the protesters are nothing more than astroturf Republicans is constantly echoed.

St Louis

In reality, for anyone who has closely tracked the evolution of this movement, the demonstrations owe their origins in an increasing sense of outrage about the multi-trillion dollar looting being carried out by the Federal Reserve in the form of the bailout, the nightmare cap and trade bill, the totalitarian health care proposals, and the general handover of American sovereignty to globalist interests through crony infrastructure sellouts and the emerging North American Union.

Romulus, Michigan

Although admittedly at an embryonic stage, the scenes we see unfolding across the country could be the spark that ignites the second American revolution. At the very least, the passionate, outraged and bold reaction to the Obama administration’s big government agenda is definitely a sign of things to come, and as each new totalitarian program is rolled out the resistance will only increase and get louder as momentum builds and people across the nation get in the face of the system and yell, “don’t tread on me.”

Denver

During a demonstration Thursday evening outside a forum on aging called by U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, in Mehville, Missouri, a patriot was viciously attacked by union thugs.

You Tube Pulls Hundreds Of Ron Paul Videos

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

You Tube has expanded its zealous copyright crusade by suspending the popular C-Span Junkie user channel, and in doing so has pulled hundreds of viral Ron Paul videos, which are now completely dead.

The C-Span Junkie user channel, a non-partisan archive of short clips taken from C-Span broadcasts of events in the Congress and the Senate, has been the home of the vast majority of You Tube videos you have seen of Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson and others being confronted in Congress, as well as Ron Paul’s speeches on the House floor. A total of more than 6400 videos in all have been pulled, hundreds of which featured the Texan Congressman.

Whether or not C-Span itself requested that You Tube pull the channel is not known, but it is clearly in the public interest and constitutes fair use to show a clip less than 10 minutes in length of what the people who are supposedly our Representatives are saying in Congress on our behalf.

As we have highlighted before, You Tube arbitrarily suspends accounts based on flimsy copyright claims that aren’t even properly investigated.

We had our own You Tube account suspended following a copyright complaint from a separate party who didn’t even own the copyright on the original material. In addition, the copyright claim was clearly erroneous as it was based on the fact that Alex Jones held up a printed version of an online newspaper story for a few seconds on camera. The channel was eventually reinstated after You Tube received a flood of complaints.

“I don’t know if you can imagine what it’s like to in a moment see 6400 videos gone,” writes the channel owner on the C Span Junkie website, “Figure 6400 hours (easily) poof GONE! I did this for the common good and now it all gone.”

The channel has now been replaced with a new account but it’s unlikely to survive long if the owner dares to post anything of substance.

Truth is no longer acceptable on You Tube as it transforms itself into a pale reflection of Hulu, a site owned and operated by NBC Universal (GE) and Fox Entertainment Group (News Corp), that is to say a joint venture by a corporation owned by a death merchant (GE manufactures attack helicopters and jet engines) and a disinformation platform owned by a notorious neocon, Rupert Murdoch.

In the Hulu-ized universe, there is no room for truth or alternative media — all channels will contain the same schlock and mindless pablum already available on cable and broadcast television.

Videos of members of Congress grilling Bernanke and his cohorts about auditing the Fed and finding out where trillions in missing TARP funds has disappeared to just aren’t part of the sanitized and lobotomized video landscape that You Tube wants to portray.

If you post videos about people eating each other’s vomit or clips of plastic bimbos with their breasts hanging out then you’ll be left alone, but God forbid should anyone try to give the country a window on what’s actually happening in Congress and what their own Representatives are talking about – in that case your thought crimes will immediately be censored and removed.

Government Fines & Harassment For People Who Refuse To Answer Intrusive Survey Questions

August 5, 2009

Paul Joseph Watson

Three million Americans are being forced to answer intrusive questions about their private lives under threat of home visits and fines by the government in the guise of The American Community Survey.

The survey, which is sent to 3 million random homes each year, is in addition to the census but demands far more invasive information from citizens, such as how many times they have been married, if they have a toilet that flushes, and how much is left outstanding on their mortgage.

According to one North Texas resident, “The questionnaire also wants answers about where she works, how much money she makes, and what time she leaves for work each day – the hour and minute! “I thought it was intrusive. I don’t have a high regard for the federal government collecting this information anyway,” the woman told CBS 11 News. “You don’t know what they’re going to do with it.”

“Why do they need to know this? They don’t, in my opinion,” the woman said, before further stating that she thinks the personal questions are un-American. “Do they really need to know if we have a mortgage and whether this house is free and clear? That’s intrusive.”

The U.S. Census Bureau claims the survey helps them “determine where to locate services and allocate resources.”

If the person refuses to respond to the the survey or merely skips one question, then the Census Bureau promises that they will be fined and harassed until they do, a process that includes telephone calls and home visits.

However, it’s all hot air as no one has ever been charged with a crime for refusing to answer the ACS survey, and indeed several members of Congress have denounced the invasive questions as a violation of the Right to Financial Privacy Act.

On its very face, this is also a flagrant violation of the 5th amendment. Any census form that goes beyond asking how many people live in the residence is a violation of the 5th amendment, and court cases have established this, yet the census becomes more and more invasive each time.

Despite the fact that refusal to respond to the survey carries no ultimate penalty, the vast majority of the millions who receive it will doubtless comply in the face of threats of harassment and fines.

Objections to the invasive information being demanded by the government in the form of the survey arrive on the back of similar concerns about the 2010 census itself, particularly how census workers are using GPS to electronically tag every home in America.

In February, the Obama administration moved control of the census out of the Department of Commerce and into the White House, a tactic slammed as a trick by Democrats to keep their majorities in Congress.

Health Plan Opponents Make Voices Heard

August 4, 2009

By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN and SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

WASHINGTON — Senator Arlen Specter and the health and human services secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, were heckled and booed in Philadelphia on Sunday.

In Austin on Saturday, a throng of protesters enveloped RepresentativeLloyd Doggett, Democrat of Texas, at a supermarket where he was trying to meet constituents. They carried signs that said “No Socialized Health Care” and chanted “Just say no!”

And in Morrisville, Pa., Representative Patrick J. Murphy, a Democrat, expected 25 people at a “Congressman on Your Corner” event on Saturday. Instead he was met by a boisterous crowd of about 150 and a barrage of questions on health care.

The protests, organized by loose-knit coalition of conservative voters and advocacy groups, were a raucous start to what is expected to be weeks of political and ideological clashes over the health care overhaul President Obama is trying to push through Congress.

The conservative groups, including FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity, are harnessing social networking Web sites to organize their supporters in much the same way Mr. Obama did during his election campaign. Democrats said they expected supporters of the health care overhaul to mobilize against Republican events later in the month.

Republicans, however, seemed to get the early jump, in part because Democrats, who hold the majority in Congress, have scheduled numerous events, including forums and town-hall-style meetings, to discuss the proposed health care legislation with constituents.

The Texas protest against Mr. Doggett was coordinated by Heather Liggett, who has worked with the local Republican Party, as well as the state chapter of Americans for Prosperity, to organize antitax “tea party” demonstrations.

When a member of her group saw a newspaper advertisement about Mr. Doggett’s event, Mrs. Liggett posted it on her Web site, she said, and the word spread “like a domino effect” through her network. She estimated that 450 people showed up.

Mrs. Liggett said she was also in touch with conservative voters around the country who were helping organize similar events. “Whether it’s Arlen Specter or Claire McCaskill or Lloyd Doggett, they are showing up in force,” she said, referring to the Democratic senator from Missouri.

Mr. Doggett said he had been ambushed while trying to hold “neighborhood office hours” at a Randalls grocery store, where he usually gets questions about veterans’ benefits or listens to constituents’ advice on how to fix the budget deficit.

“If you look at the YouTube video, you can barely see in the edge of that a beautiful marble tombstone with my name on it,” he said. “People that worked so hard to get their signs in full-color did not come to dialogue. They came to be destructive.” Video of protesters confronting Mr. Specter and Ms. Sebelius in Philadelphia was also quickly posted to YouTube.

Mr. Doggett said: “This is not a grass-roots effort. This is a very coordinated effort where the local Republican Party, the local conservative meet-up groups sent people to my event.”

Some protesters blocked his car, then followed him to another event.

The effort to flood events held by Democratic lawmakers appears to be part of a concerted strategy that began earlier in the spring at the behest of conservative, libertarian and antitax groups.

One group, called Right Principles, which sent protesters to an event in May held by Representative Jim Himes, a freshman Democrat from Connecticut, has distributed a memorandum laying out strategies to “pack the hall” and pummel lawmakers with questions.

In Virginia, Bill Wilson, the president of Americans for Limited Government, a conservative group, issued a clarion call on Monday for protests against Representative Tom Periello, another freshman Democrat. Mr. Wilson urged residents of Mr. Periello’s district to “hold rallies, demonstrations, tea parties and protests in opposition to Barack Obama’s insidious efforts to take over the health system.”

Democrats have made plans for their own offensive, including a swing through Western states by Mr. Obama. They have accused Republicans of stifling discourse. “Conservative activists don’t want to have a conversation,” said Jennifer Crider, a spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “They want to disrupt.”

Republicans said that the protests were just the beginning of spontaneous opposition to the health care proposals and that they would only gain momentum as Americans learn more about the legislation. “The more the American people hear about the Democrats’ plan, the less they like it,” said Michael Steel, a spokesman for the House Republican leader, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio.

In Washington, Amy Menefee, a spokeswoman for Americans for Prosperity, said her group was encouraging members to attend town-hall-style meetings and ask questions, including whether the lawmaker has read the entire health care bill. Ms. Menefee said her group was encouraging its members to “be respectful.”

FreedomWorks is doing much the same; it maintains a map on its Web site where members can post events in their communities.

In Texas, Shirley Markley of Austin said she received an e-mail message from a friend about Mr. Doggett’s meeting on health care and immediately wanted to attend. Once a liberal Democrat, Ms. Markley said, she voted for Senator John McCain for president last year and worries that Mr. Obama’s overhaul will lead to socialized medicine.

When she arrived at the store, she said, a large crowd had already surrounded Mr. Doggett. “People were shouting and booing his answers,” she said. “He said, ‘A few angry people won’t change my mind.’ ”

Eventually, Mr. Doggett cut the meeting short and headed for his car. “He jumped in and fled,” Ms. Markley said with a laugh. “It was like he was tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail. It was a beautiful thing.”

Mr. Doggett said that he had tried his best to answer questions, but that the demonstrators expressed opposition not only to the health care plan but also to all government programs, including Medicare and Social Security.

He said that because of the protesters he was unable to speak to other constituents, including a father and his son, wearing a Boy Scout uniform, who wanted to talk about applying to one of the military academies. He said he remained firmly committed to the health plan.

“In Texas, not only with the weather but with the politics, it is pretty hardball around here,” he said. “I have a pretty thick skin about all of this. But this really goes over the line.”

Healthcare Plan Based on Economic Fantasy

August 4, 2009

By Ron Paul
Published 08/03/09

As the healthcare debate rages on, there is one reality that even the proponents of this hostile takeover of healthcare by government cannot ignore — and that is money. The government simply does not have the money for a new, expansive, public healthcare plan. The country is in a deep recession that will deepen even further with the coming collapse of the commercial real estate market. The last thing we need is for government to increase and expand taxes to pay for another damaging, wasteful program. Foreigners are becoming less enthusiastic about buying our debt, and creating another open-ended welfare program when we cannot pay for what is already in place, will not help. Champions of socialized medicine want to tax the rich, tax businesses that already cannot afford to provide health plans to employees, and tax people who don’t want to participate in the government’s scheme by buying an approved healthcare plan. Presumably, all these taxes are to induce compliance. This is not freedom, nor will it improve healthcare.
There are limits to how much government can tax before it kills the host. Even worse, when government attempts to subsidize prices, it has the net effect of inflating them instead. The economic reality is that you cannot distort natural market pressures without unintended consequences. Market forces would drive prices down. Government meddling negates these pressures, adds regulatory compliance costs and layers of bureaucracy, and in the end, drives prices up.

The non-partisan CBO estimates that the healthcare plan will cost almost a trillion dollars over the next ten years. But government crystal balls always massively underestimate costs. It is not hard to imagine the final cost being two or three times the estimates, even though the estimates are bad enough.

It is still surreal that in a free country we are talking only about HOW government should fix healthcare, rather than WHY government should fix healthcare. This should be between doctors and patients. But this has been the discussion since the 60’s and the inception of Medicare and Medicaid, when government first began intervening to keep costs down and make sure everyone had access. The result of Medicaid/Medicare price controls and regulatory burden has been to drive more doctors out of the system — making it more difficult for the poor and the elderly to receive quality care! Seemingly, there are no failed government programs, only underfunded ones. If we refuse to acknowledge common sense economics, the prescription will always be the same: more government.

Make no mistake, government control and micromanagement of healthcare will hurt, not help healthcare in this country. However, if for a moment, we allowed the assumption that it really would accomplish all they claim, paying for it would still plunge the country into poverty. This solves nothing. The government, like any household struggling with bills to pay, should prioritize its budget. If the administration is serious about supporting healthcare without contributing to our skyrocketing deficits, they should fulfill promises to reduce our overseas commitments and use some of those savings to take care of Americans at home instead of killing foreigners abroad.

The leadership in Washington persists in a fantasy world of unlimited money to spend on unlimited programs and wars to garner unlimited control. But there is a fast-approaching limit to our ability to borrow, steal, and print. Acknowledging this reality is not mean-spirited or cruel. On the contrary, it could be the only thing that saves us from complete and total economic meltdown.

75% of Americans Support Audit the Fed!

August 4, 2009

August 3, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

For the first time in nearly 100 years, the secretive Federal Reserve is a mainstream topic for debate.

Results of a recent surveyreleased by Rasmussen Reports show that 75% of Americans support thoroughly auditing the Fed.

Read our press release about this great news here.

Before Campaign for Liberty started just a little over a year ago, no one could have imagined that such a survey result would be possible.

In less than six months since Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill was introduced, we have reached millions of Americans through phone calls, mailings, and radio and television interviews. Combined with tremendous grassroots efforts including having a presence at events, contacting Congress, spreading the word on the internet, and petitioning, we are achieving true, lasting change by fighting for accountability from the cause of so many of our nation’s struggles.

The House of Representatives is already out for its August recess, and the Senate will follow at the end of this week. This month-long recess gives us a perfect opportunity to challenge those who have not yet cosponsored to join the growing national movement to require transparency and accountability from Washington’s most shrouded institution.

Members of Congress will be hosting townhalls and appearing at fairs and other local events as they travel their districts to promote their agenda. C4L members should be at every stop along the way to push Audit the Fed.

Stay tuned to CampaignforLiberty.com in the coming days for more information on how we intend to take advantage of the August recess to promote issues including Audit the Fed.

One indication of our success has been the number of ardent Fed supporters who have recently attacked both Dr. Paul and the idea of a thorough audit.  When HR 1207 was first introduced, many of them believed it was a fringe bill that would never gain traction.  Your efforts have proved them wrong.

Click on the video below to see Congressman Paul respond to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and these other critics in his latest speech on the House floor.

If you have not yet signed our Audit the Fed petition or need contact details for your members of Congress, check out our Audit the Fed action page here. You can also find information on which representatives and senators have cosponsored HR 1207 and S 604. Be sure to send the link to family and friends and ask them to spread the word!

We are winning this fight, and Audit the Fed is only the beginning of our national efforts. With our membership continuing to grow by leaps and bounds as more Americans dedicate themselves to reclaiming their neighborhoods and their country, the political establishment hasn’t seen anything yet.

Together, we can continue to push back big government tyranny and restore the freedoms our Founders fought to give us.

Thank you for all of your time and dedication, and keep up the great work!

In Liberty,

John F. Tate

President

Ron Paul, 1988: The Power Elite

August 1, 2009

Former four-term Congressman Ron Paul describes the American power structure. As a member of the House Banking and Currency Committee, Paul was in a unique position to see the inner workings of economic power and control of the country, and how this power translates into political power. Paul describes how, through the control of the Federal Reserve and the banking system, the American power elite is basically out of reach of the democratic system. Concurrently, by using such organizations as the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations, control over the political process is maintained, resulting in what is in reality a in the U.S.

Health Officials Admit Fast Tracked H1N1 Vaccines Will Not Be Tested for Safety

July 31, 2009

doorA large percentage of the public who are informed of these facts will simply refuse the shot, but face government threats of home interventions through provisions in the Health Care bill, compulsory vaccination and quarantine.

Harold Gray
Just Get There
July 30, 2009

The media is reporting on the governments preparation for a massive vaccination campaign this fall for the hyped up H1N1 hybrid flu virus. Recently Katherine Sebelius, the Health and Human Services Secretary, granted legal immunity for vaccine manufacturers during the stage 6 pandemic declared by the WHO. Even more troubling than the new vaccines or antivirals themselves, is the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) declared by the FDA, which enables the use of expired stockpiles of Tamiflu or Relenza, and non-compliance with label requirements. The EUA authority will also permit the FDA to allow the use of “unapproved or uncleared medical products” during an established emergency.

The new stock of vaccines the governments purchased, has been fast tracked for approval by the FDA. Health officials admit that the clinical tests are about dosage amounts, and not safety. So the new vaccines being approved for the fall campaign, have the potential to cause severe harm or death, due to the lack of safety tests.

The AP reported

The clinical trials are mainly aimed at calibrating the doses to give to patients, not to test if it is safe or not, officials stressed.

We are not trying to find some yet unrecognized problem with the vaccine,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota

This is an appalling statement considering the 1976 mass vaccination campaign for swine flu, that injured hundreds of thousands and resulted in dozens of deaths from Guillain-Barré Syndrome. It is also a very cryptic statement, unrecognized problems, meaning that they will not explore how the body will react to new vaccines with unapproved adjuvants like Squalene.

Meryl Nass, M.D., an authority on the anthrax vaccine, stated on her blog:

“A novel feature of the two H1N1 vaccines being developed by companies Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline is the addition of squalene-containing adjuvants to boost immunogenicity and dramatically reduce the amount of viral antigen needed. This translates to much faster production of desired vaccine quantities.”

Dr. Mercola explains the effects of squalene injected into humans in this excerpt from his article on the subject:

The difference between “good” and “bad” squalene is the route by which it enters your body. Injection is an abnormal route of entry which incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body, not just the vaccine adjuvant.

Your immune system will attempt to destroy the molecule wherever it finds it, including in places where it occurs naturally, and where it is vital to the health of your nervous system.[viii]

Gulf War veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) received anthrax vaccines which contained squalene.[ix] MF59 (the Novartis squalene adjuvant) was an unapproved ingredient in experimental anthrax vaccines and has since been linked to the devastating autoimmune diseases suffered by countless Gulf War vets.[x]

The Department of Defense made every attempt to deny that squalene was indeed an added contaminant in the anthrax vaccine administered to Persian Gulf war military personnel – deployed and non-deployed – as well as participants in the more recent Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP).

However, the FDA discovered the presence of squalene in certain lots of AVIP product. A test was developed to detect anti-squalene antibodies in GWS patients, and a clear link was established between the contaminated product and all the GWS sufferers who had been injected with the vaccine containing squalene.

The WHO even admitted the swine flu vaccine being fast tracked in the EU may be unsafebecause it allows firms to bypass large-scale human trials.

So with reduced safety testing, would you trust a vaccine manufacturer whose contaminated vaccine could have potentially caused a pandemic?

Baxter pharmaceutical, one of the drug firms contracted to produce the H1N1 vaccine, recently sent vaccines that contained the live avian flu virus to 18 countries.

A virologist stated that this could have caused a pandemic if it would have been injected into a human subject.

As published on LifeGen.de

“Baxter International Inc. in Austria ‘unintentionally contaminated samples with the bird flu virus that were used in laboratories in 3 neighbouring countries, raising concern about the potential spread of the deadly disease’. Austria, Germany, Slowenia and the Czech Republic – these are the countries in which labs were hit with dangerous viruses. Not by bioterrorist commandos, but by Baxter. In other words: One of the major global pharmaceutical players seems to have lost control over a virus which is considered by many virologists to be one of the components leading some day to a new pandemic.”

Dr. Mae-Wan Ho and Prof. Joe Cummins from The Institute of Science in Society stated “the vaccines are far more deadly than the swine flu; mass vaccinations are a recipe for disaster”

With this knowledge, there is no excuse for the government to give vaccine manufacturers legal immunity for injuries or deaths caused by these untested cocktails, for a flu that has killed less than 300 hundred people, with most having preexisting health issues.

Given the fact that the FDA has enabled the use of dangerous treatments for the diagnosis of swine flu via the declaration of the EUA, we shouldn’t be surprised for the lack of safety for new vaccines. It also makes sense that they would seek to protect themselves and vaccine manufacturers because they have the foreknowledge that these treatments are deadly.

A large percentage of the public who are informed of these facts will simply refuse the shot, but face government threats of home interventions through provisions in the Health Care bill, compulsory vaccination and quarantine.

Overruling individual human rights has been rationalized by the WHO in a 2005 pandemic preparedness document. The WHO Checklist for Influenza Pandemic has been adopted by several governments as a blueprint for the suspension of individual rights. Below is an excerpt from theWHO’s document that promotes overruling legislation and human rights .

1.5 Legal and ethical issues

1.5.1 Legal issues

Rationale

During a pandemic, it may be necessary to overrule existing legislation or (individual) human rights. Examples are the enforcement of quarantine (overruling individual freedom of movement), use of privately owned buildings for hospitals, off-license use of drugs, compulsory vaccination or implementation of emergency shifts in essential services. These decisions need a legal framework to ensure transparent assessment and justification of the measures that are being considered, and to ensure coherence with international legislation (International Health Regulations).

Turn Up the Heat on Congress to Stop Obamacare

July 31, 2009

July 29, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

As Barack Obama continues to push his massive Government Healthcare Rationing Scheme on the American public, it’s never been more important that we stand up and fight.

Politicians in Washington and the talking heads on TV all agree that something must be done to “fix” healthcare, but they merely echo the Administration’s position that only government solutions can address this problem government caused in the first place.

Almost no one is talking about an actual free market answer to reducing costs and restoring healthcare decisions to where they belong — between patients and doctors.

No one, that is, except Ron Paul and Campaign for Liberty.

Instead of creating a massive, tangled web of bureaucracy to address obstacles arising from government overregulation, we demand that Congress actually allow the free market to work.

In that spirit, Campaign for Liberty supports healthcare reform that:

• Gives Americans control over their health careby giving them control over their health care dollar via tax credits and deductions similar to those outlined in Congressman Ron Paul’s Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR 1495).

• Protects privacy rightsby allowing patients and physicians to opt-out of any government-mandated or funded system of electronic health care records, and repeals the federal law creating an “unique patient identifier” by adopting the policies contained in Congressman Ron Paul’s Protect Patients and Physicians Privacy Act (HR 2630).

• Empowers doctorsby softening antitrust law restrictions on health care professionals when they negotiate with insurers and medical providers.  Our current system gives drug companies and corporate interests all the power.

It is vital that freedom-loving individuals tell their Representatives and Senators that they oppose this Big Government Healthcare power grab and support a free market solution.  We must voice our opposition to tax hikes, government mandates, and redistributive taxpayer-funded “public” options.

In fact, just yesterday Campaign for Liberty delivered 18,992 petitions to Capitol Hill to send just that message.

And I hope you’ll join the fight too, by clicking here to sign Campaign for Liberty’s petitionto Congress in opposition to this Government Healthcare Takeover and Rationing Scheme.  And to really turn up the pressure, I also hope you will call your Representative and Senators through the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121to voice your dissent.

So-called “experts” in the media say that Congress won’t act on socialized medicine until after August recess, but if we learned anything from the stimulus debacle, it’s that the big government ideologues in Congress are willing to force their radical agenda through while we are all sleeping — and they’ll do it in a single night.

That’s why you and I have no time to waste.  Please contact your Representative and Senators to demand a sensible free market solution to the healthcare crisis, and oppose any reform that:

• Raises taxeson any American.

• Forces Americans to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan, imposes fines or tax increases on individuals for failure to purchase health insurance, or conditions the receipt of any government benefit on the purchase or maintenance of health insurance.  Instead, Congress should protect Americans from mandatory health insurance by adopting policies like those contained in Congressman Ron Paul’s Coercion is Not Health Care Act (HR 2629).

• Establishes a government-run or taxpayer-financed health insurance system. Creation of a “public health insurance option” is a first step toward the complete nationalization of health care.  Government-managed and financed health care will inevitability result in lower standards, waiting lines, and rationed care.

It is vital we let Congress know, right now, that we won’t stand for this government healthcare rationing scheme.  Please click here to sign the petitionand call your Representative and Senators at (202) 224-3121.

GMO Scandal: The Long Term Effects of Genetically Modified Food on Humans

July 30, 2009

gmo-or-nongmo-corn

One of the great mysteries surrounding the spread of GMO plants around the world since the first commercial crops were released in the early 1990’s in the USA and Argentina has been the absence of independent scientific studies of possible long-term effects of a diet of GMO plants on humans or even rats. Now it has come to light the real reason. The GMO agribusiness companies like Monsanto, BASF, Pioneer, Syngenta and others prohibit independent research.

An editorial in the respected American scientific monthly magazine, Scientific American, August 2009 reveals the shocking and alarming reality behind the proliferation of GMO products throughout the food chain of the planet since 1994. There are no independent scientific studies published in any reputed scientific journal in the world for one simple reason. It is impossible to independently verify that GMO crops such as Monsanto Roundup Ready Soybeans or MON8110 GMO maize perform as the company claims, or that, as the company also claims, that they have no harmful side effects because the GMO companies forbid such tests!

That’s right. As a precondition to buy seeds, either to plant for crops or to use in research study, Monsanto and the gene giant companies must first sign an End User Agreement with the company. For the past decade, the period when the greatest proliferation of GMO seeds in agriculture has taken place, Monsanto, Pioneer (DuPont) and Syngenta require anyone buying their GMO seeds to sign an agreement that explicitly forbids that the seeds be used for any independent research. Scientists are prohibited from testing a seed to explore under what conditions it flourishes or even fails. They cannot compare any characteristics of the GMO seed with any other GMO or non-GMO seeds from another company. Most alarming, they are prohibited from examining whether the genetically modified crops lead to unintended side-effects either in the environment or in animals or humans.

The only research which is permitted to be published in reputable scientific peer-reviewed journals are studies which have been pre-approved by Monsanto and the other industry GMO firms.

The entire process by which GMO seeds have been approved in the United States, beginning with the proclamation by then President George H.W. Bush in 1992, on request of Monsanto, that no special Government tests of safety for GMO seeds would be conducted because they were deemed by the President to be “substantially equivalent” to non-GMO seeds, has been riddled with special interest corruption. Former attorneys for Monsanto were appointed responsible in EPA and FDA for rules governing GMO seeds as but one example and no Government tests of GMO seed safety to date have been carried out. All tests are provided to the US Government on GMO safety or performance by the companies themselves such as Monsanto. Little wonder that GMO sounds to positive and that Monsanto and others can falsely claim GMO is the “solution to world hunger.”

In the United States a group of twenty four leading university corn insect scientists have written to the US Government Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) demanding the EPA  force a change to the company censorship practice. It is as if Chevrolet or Tata Motors or Fiat tried to censor comparative crash tests of their cars in Consumer Reports or a comparable consumer publication because they did not like the test results. Only this deals with the human and animal food chain. The scientists rightly argue to EPA that food safety and environment protection “depend on making plant products available to regular scientific scrutiny.” We should think twice before we eat that next box of American breakfast cereal of the corn used is GMO or not.

Left-Wing Website With Direct Ties To White House Smears Alex Jones

July 30, 2009

AP Obama Think Tank

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Wednesday, July 29, 2009

As the establishment intensifies its efforts to demonize its political adversaries as extremists and terrorists, an George Soros-funded left-wing website with direct ties to the Obama White House has parroted the months-old debunked smear that Pittsburgh cop killer Richard Poplawski was an Alex Jones fan.

Think Progress claims that it is a “nonpartisan organization,” and yet it’s bankrolled by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a think tank headed by Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff John D. Podesta (pictured top), who was also head of Barack Obama’s presidential transition team after the 2008 election.

According to SourceWatch, “CAP’s Progressive Media project emerged as a major communications war room on behalf of Obama’s domestic and foreign policy agenda and CAP became a strong advocate for escalation in Afghanistan. Progressive Media is run through the Center for American Project Action Fund, the more political 501(c)4 arm of CAP. It coordindates closely with the Common Purpose Project, an effort to create message discipline among the pro-Obama organizations, with a direct tie to the White House.”

Think Progress was vehemently anti-war during the Bush administration, but since Obama took power, bombing brown people in broken-backed third world countries has apparently become a “progressive” and “liberal” virtue.

According to Center for American Progress director Jennifer Palmieri, the organization is focused around “driving the White House’s message and agenda.”

How on earth can “driving the White House’s message and agenda” be deemed “non-partisan”?

Think Progress is nothing more than an echo chamber for Obama administration propaganda – it’s the Free Republic of the left-wing. It’s about as “non-partisan” as the Communist Party propaganda organPravda was during the Cold War.

Though the Center for American Progress is shy about revealing its funders, according to SourceWatch, no less than 58 foundations have donated over $15 million dollars since 2003, as well as corporations and elitist philanthropists such as George Soros, who donated $3 million for “general support” in 2006.

In an article about Rep. Louie Gohmert’s appearance on the Alex Jones Show last week to warn about the health care bill, Think Progress attempts to discredit the subject by referring to host Jones as a “radical conspiracy theorist,” because of his views on the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11.

The editors of Think Progress are apparently lagging far behind in their understanding of public opinion, seemingly unaware of that fact that polls taken over 3 years ago show that an overwhelmingmajority of Americans have doubts about the official story behind 9/11.

The article also calls Jones’ claim that White House science czar John P. Holdren advocated putting sterilants in the water supply a “conspiracy theory,” despite the fact that it is clearly documented in his own 1977 book Ecoscience, excerpts of which have been posted on the Internet.

However, Think Progress’ most egregious smear appears in the last paragraph of the article.

“Despite his outlandish views, Jones’ influence can not be underestimated. Richard Poplawski, the young man who gunned down three Pittsburgh police officers earlier this year after professing a fear that the government would confiscate his guns, was a die-hard fan of Jones. Jones, who rants daily about Obama’s intentions to revoke the 2nd amendment, is also one of the loudest voices for the “birther movement.”

As we repeatedly documented over the course of several weeks, the claim that Poplawski was a Jones fan is completely at odds with the fact that he left comments on the Infowars and Prison Planet website vehemently chastising Jones for not sharing his anti-semitic beliefs.

Indeed, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which Think Progress links to in the article, reported that Poplawski appeared “to agree with another poster who criticized Alex Jones.”

Websites that originally picked up the hoax that Poplawski was a Jones fan, when in fact he was attacking Jones through his comments on the websites, were later forced to issue retractions. Raw Story issued a retraction and removed Jones from their original article and Daily Kos later did the same. Despite this, the New York Times still ran with the debunked smear a day later.

“Based on a correction/retraction on RawStory, I have reason to doubt the information reported by the ADL with respect to Alex Jones and Infowars or PrisonPlanet. In fact, evidence points to the contrary; that Alex Jones has spoken strongly against hate speech similar to that spoken by Richard Poplawski. Therefore, in fairness, I’ve removed any references in this diary with respect to Alex Jones and the websites Infowars or PrisonPlanet,” wrote Daily Kos diarist ‘fcvaguy’.

Why is Think Progress repeating a hoax smear that was debunked and retracted by other websites over four months ago? How could Poplawski have been a “die-hard fan” of Jones when he publicly chastised him?

In addition, the claim that Jones is “one of the loudest voices for the birther movement,” is also a complete fallacy as any regular listener will be able to attest to. Though Jones has recently stated there may be some merit to claims that Obama was not born in the U.S., to translate this into him being “one of the loudest voices” advocating this position is clearly disingenuous. Indeed, when questions about Obama’s birthright first began to surface before the election last year, Jones publicly stated that he thought the subject was at best a distraction and probably erroneous.

Think Progress’ attempts at character assassination and guilt by association are clearly part of an agenda to demonize both Jones and Gohmert because they disagree with their political viewpoints on the health care bill. However, by using fallacious smear attacks and erroneous claims as the foundation of their rebuttal, Think Progress only shoots itself in the foot, exposing this Soros-funded organization for what it is – a partisan, bias agenda-driven propaganda front for the White House.

A CROWDED RACE FOR GOVERNOR, BUT ONLY ONE BIG ‘R’ CANDIDATE

July 30, 2009

c2a3e02c-a2af-1c77-ec9b7adfe1d62b59

THE CYPRESS TIMES EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH DEBRA MEDINA

“We’ve got to be better at judging people by the fruit of their lives, rather than the rhetoric of their words.” – Debra Medina, Republican candidate for Governor of Texas.

The political landscape is currently inhabited by a strong-willed female conservative who is ready to buck the system, dropkick conventional wisdom, and stand up against the tired old status quo in politics even if that means taking on her own Republican Party.   No, it’s not “Sarah Barracuda”.  That candidate is Texan Debra Medina whose “take no prisoners” attitude in wanting to serve the people of Texas just might earn her the moniker of “Debra Bobcat”.

In a crowded field of candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Governor, the little known Debra Medina will stand “David-like” against two “Goliaths” in incumbent Governor Rick Perry and popular U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.  The fact that she is out-gunned, out-manned and out-financed by these two political powerhouses is not lost on Medina, nor does it deter her.

“Our history is filled with people who won by standing on their beliefs and principles,” say Medina, who cites Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan as the type of Republicans that best personify her own beliefs and the ideals for which she is fighting.

Medina, the former Head of the Wharton County Republican party, believes that somewhere along the line we, as a people, have turned to following personalities rather than ideals.  Medina dealt with this issue over five years ago when members of the Wharton County Republican Party Executive Committee began to display apathy.  Medina said then, “Our loyalty is not to a collection of people or personalities.”

“I am a Republican because of an allegiance to a set of ideals,” says Medina.  “We’ve got to be better at judging people by the fruit of their lives, rather than the rhetoric of their words.  My walk matches the talk.  It’s important that our walk be consistent with our talk.”

Medina is concerned that the Republic for which we stand is beginning to slip away, “We need to restore our Republic, and not act on public opinion.”

Debra Medina says that all too often our leaders, including Perry and Hutchison, have been either unable or unwilling to make the tough decisions.  Currently Popularity triumphs over Public Service.  Medina says, “The two presumptive candidates (Perry and Hutchison) have proven they won’t stand up.”

Debra Medina, a longtime nurse who started her own business, Prudentia, Inc., which specializes in helping patients save money by improving medical billing procedures, says her number one hot-button issue is the need to eliminate the state property tax.  She does not want to change it or reduce it, she wants to abolish it.

Medina says there is a way to shield Texas from the crumbling U.S. economy.  Much of it involves the property tax.  Likening the tax to an unbalanced load on the back of a pack mule, Medina says, “Property tax creates a poorly loaded burden on our economy.  We need to get rid of property taxes.”  Medina goes on to say, “If we eliminated our property tax and did a revenue neutral sales tax, net personal income would go up $1.5 to $3 billion in the first year.”  How big of a sales tax increase would this cause?  None, if Medina has her way.

“If we tax real property value (via a sales tax) at the time of its sale we could actually lower the sales tax to 5.5%,” says Medina.  Medina has already launched a petition drive to build a coalition to draft, write and sponsor such legislation for the 2011 Legislative Session in Texas.

It may seem a waste of time for another Republican to enter the race, and counter-productive, too  in light of the reports coming from the last Legislative session, and from a Governor Perry, who seems to have suddenly found his long-lost conservatism.  After all, State Senators, State Reps, and the “Gov” himself have been everywhere anyone would listen ballyhooing the $8 billion dollar surplus that the State of Texas now enjoys.  So, what’s the problem?

According to Medina, the problem is that there is no surplus of $8 billion dollars and that, in fact, there is an “outstanding bonded debt of $27.5 billion as of the end of 2008.”    Medina gets those numbers from the State of Texas Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (see Chart on page 34).  While the numbers are not yet in on this year’s Legislative Session, the Special Session allotted another $2 billion in the same type of bonded debt to The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT).

Rather than considering the State of Texas to be on strong economic ground Medina says, “I would argue that we have doubled the cost of healthcare and doubled spending.”

Medina is fully aware that she is the little fish in this race, but she vows to fight on.  “The challenge,” says Medina “is to get the message out.  We’ll never have the dollars that Kay or Rick have.”  To that end Medina is running a good old-fashioned grass roots campaign made up of a primarily volunteer staff.  She is also taking advantage of all the “New Media” on the Internet from Facebook, to Twitter, to forums, to Meet Up groups.

Medina actually seems to like running her campaign as guerilla warfare, and while she realizes the necessity for political donations she says, “I would rather people keep their money for their families than to be asking them to give to a political campaign.”

How many times have you heard a candidate say that?  Limited Government, Lower Taxes, Less Spending – that’s what Debra Medina calls a Big “R” Republican.

Massive US Terrorism Simulation Involving Foreign Agencies Begins Today

July 28, 2009

A huge simulation coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has begun today with no mainstream media coverage at all.

The security exercise known as National Level Exercise 09 (NLE 09) will last for five days and will involve foreign security officials working in conjunction with the US military, as well as Federal, State, Local Tribal and Private Sector representatives.

According to a factsheet in the recesses of the FEMA website, the agency will host National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09) on July 27 through July 31, 2009:

“NLE 09 will be the first major exercise conducted by the United States government that will focus exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection, as opposed to incident response and recovery,” the factsheet states. It is designated as a Tier I National Level Exercise, or TOPOFF, which are exercises conducted annually in accordance with the National Exercise Program (NEP), “which serves as the nation’s overarching exercise program for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating national level exercises,” according to FEMA.

NLE 09 “will focus on intelligence and information sharing among intelligence and law enforcement communities, and between international, federal, regional, state, tribal, local and private sector participants”.

The FEMA information sheet states that the exercise involves a scenario that begins “in the aftermath of a notional terrorist event outside the United States, and exercise play will center on preventing subsequent efforts by the terrorists to enter the United States and carry out additional attacks. This scenario enables participating senior officials to focus on issues related to preventing terrorist events domestically and protecting U.S. critical infrastructure.”

The exercise will also include agencies in Britain, Mexico, Canada and Australia, the Department of Homeland Security has said. The Navajo Nation will also participate.

“This year the United States welcomes the participation of Australia, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom in NLE 09.” The FEMA factsheet does not explain why the participation of foreign officials is necessary, nor does it elaborate on the roles they will play.

Canadian federal involvement was today confirmed in a press release attributed to “Public Safety Canada”. The Press release also noted the involvement of the United Kingdom, Australia and Mexico.

An independent reporter from Oklahoma (or FEMA region VI) was informed that NLE 09 is not “media friendly” because it largely involves people looking at computer screens in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

After asking if it would be possible to sit in on the exercise, Andrew W. Griffin

of Red Dirt Report was told by Brook Arbeitman, the public information officer for the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, that this was not possible and that the exercise is mostly decompartmentalized.

Arbeitman, interestingly enough, could not answer some more in-depth questions about NLE 09 because she is a role player in the exercise, playing – you guessed it – a public information officer for Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security and as a result “is not privy” to some of the specifics.

“We will be playing along with everybody to whatever extent the exercise” proceeds, Arbeitman said.

According to FEMA, the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, Justice, and State, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and a broad spectrum of component agencies, offices and commands will all participate in the exercise.

NLE 09 activities will take place at command posts, emergency operation centers, intelligence centers and field locations throughout the country, including federal headquarters facilities in the Washington, D.C. area as well as facilities in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and California.

In our previous story on NLE 09, we noted that this exercise is a continuation of previous simulations under FEMA and the DHS that have involved the rounding-up and internment of American citizens labeled as “suspected terrorists”.

Under REX 84 and other operations, FEMA, in association with 34 other federal civil departments and agencies, has consistently trained to detain large numbers of Americans.

We also noted that several recently leaked Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and local law enforcement documents have stated that the focus of security operations should be “rightwing extremists” who support the Second Amendment and states’ rights and oppose abortion and open borders.

Castle Doctrine Dies In Texas

So much for English common law and Sir Edward Coke’s dictum that a man’s home is his refuge and castle. “For a man’s house is his castle, et domus sua cuique est tutissimum refugium [and each man’s home is his safest refuge],” Coke wrote in 1628.

William Blackstone, in his Commentaries on the Laws of England, said “no doors can in general be broken open to execute any civil process,” except in the case of criminal causes.

In the United States, the Castle Doctrine, arising from English common law, designates one’s place of residence as a refuge not only against violent attacks, but unwarranted trespassing by the state.

In Texas, the authorities have put an end to this idea, which ultimately found its way into Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights guarding against unreasonable searches and seizures. Property rights are integral to the Constitution.

“Police can arrest people who don’t leave town under mandatory evacuation orders under a new state law that goes into effect in the heart of Texas’ hurricane season,” reports the Associated Press. “As it stands, officials cannot compel people to evacuate, only warn that those who stay behind won’t have any emergency services at their disposal.” The new law gives county judges and mayors the power to authorize use of “reasonable force” to remove people from the area.

The state now has the authority to smash down your door and arrest you for failure to follow orders.

The Supreme Court has ruled “the Fourth Amendment protects other interests in addition to privacy interests, such as possessory interests.” In other words, the court ruled that the state cannot evict without cause.

Jonathan Jorissen, writing for the Ave Maria Law Review in 2007, noted that “forcible removal of victims of natural disasters [in this instance, Katrina] seemingly constitutes seizures. Applying the requisite standard of reasonableness, it must be asked whether the actions were, in fact, reasonable. Given the nature of the situation, it is evident that they were not. The affected citizens were not guilty of any crime. Additionally, their property was in no way necessary for the government to carry out its duties. Instead, these hurricane victims were further victimized by their government, which removed them from their homes based on the suspicion that they might contract some disease. Without a more compelling interest, the government’s actions were unreasonable.”

As Supreme Court Justice William Patterson observed, property rights are the foundation of any social compact. “Men have a sense of property: Property is necessary to their subsistence, and correspondent to their natural wants and desires; its security was one of the objects, that induced them to unite in society.”

In Texas, the state has destroyed that compact and the very concept of natural law.

TOUR OF AUSTIN WATER TREATMENT PLANT–fluoridefreeaustin.com

July 26, 2009

“For the locals.”

Ulrich_Water_Treatment_Diagram

Good afternoon, Mayor Leffingwell and councilmembers.  The big news, since I last spoke here on June 18—apart from the Council’s new look—was a citizens’ tour of the Ullrich water treatment plant that the Austin Water Utility arranged for a group of us. It was fascinating to see one of our large tax-funded municipal public works in action—a facility that’s capable of pumping 167 million gallons of water per day.  Of course there’s no time to get into the details of disinfecting, softening, coagulation, flocculation, settling out and filtration that go to bring raw water from Lake Travis to our taps.  But I did have some questions.

The schematic you see was prominently displayed, but we were told it was out of date.  The fluoride feed has been moved from early in the treatment process—that’s third from the left, shown in white—to the very end, post filtration.  The change was made because a quarter of the fluoride, when injected at the front end, was getting lost somewhere in the process and not making it to the distribution system.  I found that very interesting.  Where did it go?   How was it eventually disposed of?  Anyway, that’s been “fixed.”  100% of it now enters our water supply.

Which brings up another question.  What percentage of the water we pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to fluoridate each year actually gets consumed as drinking water?  I asked one of our tour guides, who laughed and said, “probably a very small amount.”  In fact, the figure is around 1%.  The rest of this pricey hazardous waste chemical is literally going down the drain with the bathwater, the lawn runoff, etc., to join the wastewater stream, from which it re-enters the environment where you could never dump it directly.   When I asked at what level of fluoridation the hundred million-plus gallons of water pumped each day goes back into the river, I was told that was not the Water Utility’s concern, since it doesn’t violate EPA’s limit of 4 ppm.   Which is, unfortunately,  true.  More about this outrageously high EPA limit another day.  Thank you.

Stop Obamacare Now!

July 25, 2009

By David McKalip, M.D.

The Majority in Congress and the President are promising to change the “status quo” by pushing a government run-medicine plan (HR 3200). The plan would create rationing through government committees, force all Americans to buy over-priced, politically created health insurance, create an economically unsustainable government-run insurance plan and impose economy-crushing taxes. In fact, the President would break yet another promise by imposing a 2.5% income tax on each person who refused to buy government improved insurance. Further, after 2013 people would be forced to stay in their current plan for life or buy only a government-approved plan since no further enrollment will be allowed in non-approved insurance. Insurance companies would profit endlessly from the free business of the mandate. As medical care demands increased and artificially high profit margins became unacceptably low (for them) they would join the bailout game. In other words, there would be absolutely no change to the status quo — just an expansion of more people into the currently bad system with the added feature of state-sanctioned rationing of medical care.

President Obama and Congress are building a medical cage that would trap all Americans and their doctors. Doctors who chose to provide the best, most innovative care with the fewest side effects to their patients would be punished. Doctors will be coerced to buy electronic medical records and send the private medical data of their patients and the details of their medical decisions to the government and insurance companies. The data of your doctors’ medical practice would then be scanned by bureaucrats to see that they have complied with rules designed to force them to ration care. They must practice “efficiently” to avoid a 5%-40% pay cut or to avoid being driven out of practice altogether. The same government that recently accidentally posted all the nation’s sensitive nuclear sites on the internet would then have to be trusted to keep your data confidential. With full access to every bit of your medical data, government and insurance companies would have an excuses to deny care for your “non-compliance” with, for instance, a diabetes control or tobacco cessation program. Congressional plans would likely add to the cost of health insurance by adding mandated benefits to plans you must buy — perhaps even forcing pro-life taxpayers to subsidize abortions.

Congress is foolishly basing its health system reform proposals on the same approach used in Massachusetts. The state has failed to achieve “universal coverage” with about 200,000 (2.6%) of their state still uninsured. In fact, most of the newly insured were covered by receiving heavily subsidized insurance from the state — not due to the mandate to buy private insurance out of pocket. Due to budget overruns, they recently voted to remove coverage from 30,000 legal aliens for a $130 million savings and last year released others who couldn’t afford costly coverage from the mandate. Health care costs are rising much faster than nationally with spending up by 23 percent. Insurance premiums have increased 10-12 percent per year, nearly double the national average. The state is facing $1.5 billion this year in health spending and now is considering cost control programs that will limit care doctors provide to patients. There are too few providers for the increased demand – due to price fixing of doctor pay for decades by the federal government. Thus patients are waiting long periods to see doctors — especially in primary care. Congressional proposals to fix this included allowing nurse practitioners to be designated primary care “providers”, negating the years of training doctors receive and discouraging more doctors from entering the profession to compete against nurses for the same business.

Fortunately there are good Congressional proposals to address these problems and to allow American to escape from the government’s medical cage. Congressman Ron Paul has authored HR 2630, the “Protect Patients and Physician’s Privacy Act”. The bill states that all individuals shall have the ability to opt out of any federally mandated, created, or funded electronic system for maintaining health care information. He also is offering HR 2629 the “Coercion is Not Health Care Act'” which forbids the Federal Government from forcing any American to purchase health insurance, and from conditioning participation in any federal program, or receipt of any federal benefit, on the purchase of health insurance.

Free market economist and philosopher of freedom, Friedrich Hayek defined freedom as “the absence of coercion”. In his classic The Road to Serfdom he describes how parliamentary bodies (like Congress) prefer to delegate their power to unelected committees to insulate themselves from criticism — especially when they create economically unsustainable programs which are promises that they cannot keep. Modern Congressional promises that can’t be kept include Medicare, SCHIP and now a proposed public option and heavily subsidized, but mandated, universal health insurance. Congressman Paul is channeling Hayek when he works to protect us from coercion proposed by Congress and from the power their appointed committees would gain by using the valuable medical information essentially looted from each American alive. As a free American, it is in your your best interest to use the freedom you have now to rise up to stop this very un-American intrusion into your lives. Some would say it is your duty — but that would be coercion too. Yet remember that Benjamin Franklin told us that when you fight for your own freedom, you are helping the cause of liberty for all. And a society with more freedom is in everyone’s individual interest. You can start by calling your Congressman and ask them to support HR 2629 and HR 2630. Then recruit others who have an open mind to the cause. Finally, it is important that you donate to causes like the Campaign for Liberty so they can be on your side to help you fight.

Obama Administration Begins Opposition To States Claiming Sovereignty And Gun Rights

July 25, 2009

Tom Remington
Black Bear Blog
July 24, 2009

The several states are lining up to reclaim their sovereignty and telling the federal government to butt out. This is being done in myriad ways but all are related in that most claim that the Tenth Amendment protects the states from federal tyranny. States are passing resolutions, memorials and two states have passed laws and they intend to apply those laws for their citizens. The two states are Montana and Tennessee.

It was expected that at some point these laws would be challenged and it appears actions to do such has begun. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has published open letters to federal firearms license holders in  Montanaand  Tennessee explaining that

federal law trumps state law when it comes to gun laws.

“As you may know, federal law requires a license to engage in the business of manufacturing firearms or ammunition, or to deal in firearms, even if the firearms or ammunition remain with the same state. All firearms manufactured by a licensee must be properly marked. Additionally, each licensee must record the type, model, caliber or gauge, and serial number of each firearm manufactured or otherwise acquired, and the date such manufacture or other acquisition was made. Firearms transaction records and NICS background checks must be conducted prior to disposition of firearms to unlicensed persons. These, as well as other Federal requirements and prohibitions, apply whether or not the firearms or ammunition have crossed state lines.

In a report filed by CBS News, it seems to indicate that even though these states are claiming sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment, the Federal Government may have power over such gun laws as the Firearms Freedom Act, via the Commerce Clause.

Read literally, the Tenth Amendment seems to suggest that the federal government’s powers are limited only to what it has been “delegated,” and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1918 confirmed that the amendment “carefully reserved” some authority “to the states.” That view is echoed by statements made at the time the Constitution was adopted; New Hampshire explicitly said that states kept “all powers not expressly and particularly delegated” to the federal government.

More recently, federal courts have interpreted the Tenth Amendment narrowly, in a way that justifies almost any law on grounds that it intends to regulate interstate commerce.

World Net Daily points out in an article of their own that the Montana Firearms Freedom Act bill declares that Congress has not “expressly pre-empted state regulation of intrastate commerce pertaining to the manufacture on an intrastate basis of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition”.

I have been saying for some time that all of this will eventually wend its way through the courts ultimately landing at the feet of the United States Supreme Court. This is one reason the approval of Sonia Sotomayor as a Supreme Court justice is vitally important, especially due to the fact that she is anti Second Amendment and has shown little regard for the original intent of the Constitution.

Also at issue in this debate are pending lawsuits challenging gun laws in other states. Chicago’s gun ban is being challenged after the District of Columbia vs. Heller decision reaffirming an individual right to keep and bear arms. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that federal gun laws do not pertain to the states, a position taken by Sotomayor.

This is an interesting ruling considering that prior to this the Ninth Circuit Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment’s Due Process Clause incorporates the Second Amendment and therefore federal law, which now holds the ruling of theDistrict of Columbia vs. Heller decision, applies to the states rendering them unable to create gun laws that supersede federal laws. This will end up at the Supreme Court.

While we are discussing the Fourteenth Amendment, the Second Amendment and Ninth and Tenth, the BATFE is sending out public letters, assumed to be authorized by the Obama administration, to federal firearms dealers in Montana and Tennessee, stating that federal law supersedes state laws, at least as they pertain to firearms and ammunition.

Where will this all end up? I believe the Supreme Court but I know not how long this may take. In the meantime, the Obama administration, made up of mostly anti-gun people, are grasping to gain control over your right to keep and bear arms. From the day Obama was elected, the people rushed to stores buying up guns and ammunition at unprecedented rates. With the combination of a new president and staff known to want to ban gun and gun sales and the District of Columbia vs. Heller ruling, it has helped spur more laws to relax gun restrictions. This, I am positive, angers the Obama administration.

None of this comes as a surprise to Gary Marbut, President of the Montana Shooting Sports Association. Marbut was directly responsible for the Montana Firearms Freedom Act. In a letter sent to his members of MSSA, Marbut points out what he views as little concern over the letter and how it was expected.

1) The letters are addressed only to FFLs and purport to assert authority only over those licensees already under the federal thumb because of their licenses. We’ve always assumed that people with existing FFLs would not be players in the state-made guns exercise because they will not wish to risk thwarting the earned reputation the BATFE has for vindictiveness. The letters are not addressed to non-FFLs, those folks who are potential participants in the state-made guns business.

2) The BATFE letters may lack any official import because they are not signed by the official who appears in the signature block, but by some unknown other person. It’s difficult to place much credence in a missive upon which the purported issuing person is unwilling to put his signature, and for which the signer is unknown.

3) The essence of the letter is a declaration that the laws that the BATFE enforces supercede the U.S. Constitution and the Tenth

Amendment. I understand that the BATFE hopes that is so, but that’s far from proven yet. (We still recommend that nobody make these state-made guns until we can litigate and vet the principles involved.)

4) The letters, if they are official even though unsigned by the issuer, will help us establish standing to get this issue squarely before the federal courts. The feds have thrown down the gauntlet.

I like Montana’s approach to their action in the creation of their Firearms Freedom Act. They are proactively seeking to bring this issue to the courts for a ruling. They believe in their own state’s constitution and that they, according to their contract with the people and the United States Government, have the sovereignty and freedom under the U.S. Constitution, to make their own laws in matters such as this.

This will be a long and drawn out affair but one that is ripe for a good battle. Let’s hope this battle arrives before Obama can stack the Supreme Court with more anti-gun “empathetic” justices.

Healthcare Is a Good, Not a Right

July 22, 2009

By Ron Paul
Published 07/21/09

Political philosopher Richard Weaver famously and correctly stated that ideas have consequences. Take for example ideas about rights versus goods. Natural law states that people have rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A good is something you work for and earn. It might be a need, like food, but more “goods” seem to be becoming “rights” in our culture, and this has troubling consequences. It might seem harmless enough to decide that people have a right to things like education, employment, housing or healthcare. But if we look a little further into the consequences, we can see that the workings of the community and economy are thrown wildly off balance when people accept those ideas.

First of all, other people must pay for things like healthcare. Those people have bills to pay and families to support, just as you do. If there is a “right” to healthcare, you must force the providers of those goods, or others, to serve you.

Obviously, if healthcare providers were suddenly considered outright slaves to healthcare consumers, our medical schools would quickly empty. As the government continues to convince us that healthcare is a right instead of a good, it also very generously agrees to step in as middle man. Politicians can be very good at making it sound as if healthcare will be free for everybody. Nothing could be further from the truth. The administration doesn’t want you to think too much about how hospitals will be funded, or how you will somehow get something for nothing in the healthcare arena. We are asked to just trust the politicians. Somehow it will all work out.

Universal Healthcare never quite works out the way the people are led to believe before implementing it. Citizens in countries with nationalized healthcare never would have accepted this system had they known upfront about the rationing of care and the long lines.

As bureaucrats take over medicine, costs go up and quality goes down because doctors spend more and more of their time on paperwork and less time helping patients. As costs skyrocket, as they always do when inefficient bureaucrats take the reins, government will need to confiscate more and more money from an already foundering economy to somehow pay the bills. As we have seen many times, the more money and power that government has, the more power it will abuse. The frightening aspect of all this is that cutting costs, which they will inevitably do, could very well mean denying vital services. And since participation will be mandatory, no legal alternatives will be available. The government will be paying the bills, forcing doctors and hospitals to dance more and more to the government’s tune. Having to subject our health to this bureaucratic insanity and mismanagement is possibly the biggest danger we face. The great irony is that in turning the good of healthcare into a right, your life and liberty are put in jeopardy.

Instead of further removing healthcare from the market, we should return to a true free market in healthcare, one that empowers individuals, not bureaucrats, with control of healthcare dollars. My bill HR 1495 the Comprehensive Healthcare Reform Act provides tax credits and medical savings accounts designed to do just that.

Contact Congress and Fight for True Health Care Reform

July 21, 2009

July 20, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Universal health care has long been one of the chief tenets of the big government ideology.  According to its adherents, not only does everyone have a “right” to health care, Congress has the right to make you pay to ensure everyone has access.

President Obama and his allies in Congress believe all they have to do is constantly harp about the “high cost of health care” and American citizens will instantly fall in line behind their scheme to “take care of us.”

Want to opt out of this power grab?  Americans who do not have some kind of health care coverage will be forced to pay a “penalty tax.”

The President and Congress also want to increase taxeson the wealthy (an ever more inclusive definition for the government) and tax employer-provided health benefitsto help pay for their plan.

According to Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates, Congress’ plans would increase the budget deficit by $239 billion over the next ten years.

It’s enough to make you sick.

Call your representative, Lloyd Doggett, at (202) 225-4865 and let Congress know you want no part of this latest government power grab. Click hereto sign our petition.  Urge your representative to take a stand for patients by supporting true health care reform – reform that ends government meddling and unleashes the power of the free market by encouraging competition and presenting real choices.

At Campaign for Liberty, we agree that America’s health care system needs serious reform.  Since the inception of managed care in the 1970s, excessive regulation and corporatism have damaged the patient-doctor relationship and driven up consumer costs.  The problems today stem from too much government, not market failure.

Instead of moving toward even more government and less freedom, it is critical that America enact the right reforms to empower consumers and doctors.

Click hereto read Campaign for Liberty’s official Statement of Health Care Reform Principles.  Simply put, we will not support any plan that raises taxes on any American, forces Americans into the new system, or creates a “public option.”

We willsupport health care reform that gives Americans control over their health care dollars, protects patients’ privacy rights, and empowers doctors by softening antitrust law restrictions on health care professionals when they negotiate with insurers and medical providers.

President Obama is right that now is the time to take action.  It is imperative that we immediatelyget government out of health care to guarantee real, lasting reform.

Many in Congress and across the country have decided that there’s no point in trying to fight government’s takeover of health care.  They believe it’s a “done deal.”

I believe, however, that the Revolution that made Audit the Feda mainstream media issue, brought the entire Republican Party and nearly a hundred Democrats onto HR 1207 in less than six months, and shocked the political establishment by refusing to back down after Ron Paul’s bid for the presidency ended, is the same Revolution that can successfully fight for real health care reform.

We can stand up to those who seemingly have nothing better to do than think up more ways to interfere with our lives.  Together, we can champion and achieve true, lasting change.

In Liberty,

John F. Tate
President

Mandatory Swine Flu Vaccination Alert

July 15, 2009

Stephen Lendman
Global Research
July 14, 2009

On July 13, a World Health Organization (WHO) Global Alert headlined, “WHO recommendations on pandemic (H1N1) 2009 vaccinations” suggest that universally mandated ones are coming. It stated that on July 7, the pharmaceutical industry-dominated Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization held an “extraordinary meeting in Geneva to discuss issues and make recommendations related to vaccine for the pandemic (H1N1) 2009.”

There’s no pandemic. Yet WHO said the virus “is considered unstoppable,” while admitting little evidence of spread so far, most cases are mild, and many people recover unaided. Nonetheless, all countries will need vaccines and should follow these priorities as initial supplies will be limited:

– immunize health care workers “to protect the essential health care infrastructure;” then

– pregnant women; children over six months of age “with one of several chronic medical conditions;” healthy young adults aged 15 – 49; healthy children; healthy adults aged 50 – 64; and finally healthy adults aged 65 or older.

WTO suggested the risks in stating “new technologies are involved in the production of some pandemic vaccines, which have not yet been extensively evaluated for their safety in certain population groups…” As a result, “post-marketing surveillance” and “post-marketing safety and effectiveness studies” are essential so that countries can adjust their vaccination policies.

WHO “recommendations” are binding on all 194 member countries in case a pandemic emergency is declared under the 2005 International Health Regulations Act and April 2009 WHO pandemic plan.

It’s crucial to understand that these vaccines are experimental, untested, toxic and extremely dangerous to the human immune system. They contain squalene-based adjuvants that cause a host of annoying to life-threatening autoimmune diseases. They must be avoided, even if mandated. It’s also known that vaccines don’t protect against diseases they’re designed to prevent and often cause them. They should be banned but proliferate anyway because they’re so profitable, and if globally mandated to the greatest extent ever.

Get ready because that’s precisely what’s coming – universal orders to risk toxic vaccine hazards. In the coming weeks, the dominant media globally will get into high gear fear-mongering mode to convince people voluntarily to submit to jeopardizing their health and well-being. It’s essential to refuse and be safe and international law absolutely protects us.

Don’t Tread on Me

July 14, 2009

July 13, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty:

When you’re backed into a corner, all you can do is FIGHT your way out.

Today, that’s exactly where Patriots like you and me find ourselves

It doesn’t matter that the big government politicians from BOTH parties have nearly wrecked and bankrupted our country.

The out of control Fed…Trillion dollar stimulus bills…Record deficits under both Presidents Bush and Obama…

Bailouts…Government takeover of the Auto industry…Taxpayer-funded handouts for bankers and Wall Street…

I’m sick and tired of it.  And I’m sure you are too.

You and I can’t count on politicians in either party to do the right thing, not without being pushed.

The good news is Ron Paul and Campaign for Liberty are fighting back.  And you and I are starting to see results

Not only that, but there’s a groundswell of folks all over the country who are also FED UP and are supporting our cause of Liberty.

With our battles heating up, I’m asking you to dig deep today to support Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty

These battles simply can’t be won without your help.

Your support for ALL of Campaign for Liberty’s critical efforts is absolutely vital, including:

*** AUDIT THE FED, so the American people can finally see the corruption and economic devastation caused by the central planning of a handful of bankster bureaucrats;

*** STOPPING the radical environmentalists’ Cap-and-Tax schemethat would drive already sky-high energy costs through the roof, massively hike taxes on hardworking Americans and grind our economy to an immediate halt;

*** DEFEATING Big Government Medicinethat would not only lead to astronomical tax hikes, but would give big government bureaucrats decision-making power over our healthcare system and virtually EVERY medical decision.

That’s why Campaign for Liberty is fighting – and why I’m asking you to act TODAY to push our battles forward!

You see, Campaign for Liberty supporters are making a REAL impact in Washington

So many patriotic Americans are FED UP, and it’s thanks to your efforts on H.R. 1207, AUDIT THE FED.

Already, Dr. Paul’s bill has gained the support of over half of the House of Representatives!  That would have been unthinkable just a year ago.

But today is a new day for our movement.

You know, it’s funny.  If you read a newspaper, you won’t see a call for a full-fledged audit of the Federal Reserve.

Turn on the television and you won’t hear the talking heads calling for AUDIT THE FED.

So what’s happening?  Where is the pressure coming from?

It’s simple. It’s YOU!

It’s called a grassroots R3VOLUTION.

And if you and I can succeed, Washington DC and your state government will never be the same.

But the truth of the matter is there’s still much, MUCH work to be done if we’re going to hold on to the precious freedoms we still enjoy and restore the freedoms that have been whittled away

This is not a battle that will be won in weeks, or even months.  You and I must prepare for long-term revolution to take back our country and our liberty.

In the past, the Socialists and Statists have used crises like our current economic disaster to grab more and more power.

They’re trotting out the same tired playbook now, trying to take more of our money and liberty each passing day

The only difference is that — in the past — there’s been no cohesive, organized opposition ready and able to fight back.

But today, we have Ron Paul.

Today, there is Campaign for Liberty.

And you.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of folks all over the country just like YOU

And together, we must fight back, and not back down from this challenge.

Of course, just knowing how the regime works and what it’s up to isn’t going to be enough

As I said before, we have to start “throwing punches.”

It’s sad but true — too many politicians don’t care about right or wrong or what’s good or bad for America.

If they did, they wouldn’t be so intent on stripping us of our God-given rights, plunging us into unconstitutional, undeclared wars and spending us to the verge of bankruptcy!

At the end of the day, too many politicians care ONLY about getting and keeping POWER.

That’s why if our movement is to succeed, you and I must FIGHT back and DEFEAT the big government politicians’ pet legislation.

And then hold the politicians accountable as well.

But to do this, the R3VOLUTION must continue to grow.

Already, we’ve recruited over 180,000 supporters for Campaign for Liberty.  But that’s nowhere near the number we’ll need to really bring pressure to our elected officials.  And my research indicates there may be as many as 700,000 more ready to join us – if we can reach them.

As I’m sure you know, reaching like-minded Americans through direct mail, phone banking and the internet to recruit them to our cause all takes a good deal of money.

Media campaigns like the one we’re about to embark on to help push Audit the Fed are even more expensive.

And unlike the government, we can’t just print money to cover our operations.

That’s why I’m counting on you.

I’m counting on you to make a generous contributionTODAY to help Campaign for Liberty fight back against the politicians’ big government schemes and recruit hundreds of thousands of new supporters.

When Dr. Paul announced he was running for President in 2007, few people could have imagined the movement he — and you — would create.

You see, you are an important part of this movement.

And today, despite all the naysayers, YOU have a very real opportunity to help turn our movement into a major political force in Washington through Campaign for Liberty.

And what you and I are able to accomplish over the next several months will help determine whether Dr. Paul’s Presidential run was truly the “start of something” or just “a flash in the pan.”

I think I know the answer.  But I’m counting on every single one of Dr. Paul’s supporters to heed his call to arms today.

So please make a generous contributionof $250, $100, or $50 TODAY.

Nothing worth achieving is ever easy.  Nor is it free.  And I’m sure you agree, restoring real liberty in our time is truly a goal worth achieving

Sincerely,

John F. Tate

NAFTA Highway Dealt Another Serious Blow

July 13, 2009

By Mark Anderson

TEXAS-BASED COMPREHENSIVE Development Agreements, or CDAs, that could have transformed a number of freeways into foreign controlled tollways—charging cash-strapped motorists up to 75 cents a mile—were dealt another serious blow July 2 as Gov. Rick Perry’s special legislative session that was called July 1 drew to a close.

Opponents to his tolling-the-freeways agenda ran up the victory flag once again. Thus, “any private investment in the road business dies as of Aug. 31,” was how Hank Gilbert of Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom, or TURF, assessed the situation.

Gilbert told AFP: “Perry is getting his head beaten in,” meaning that the special session that the Republican governor called not long after the regular legislative session adjourned on May 31, bore no fruit for Perry, who had hoped to get these CDA/public-private partnerships approved.

Because “the CDAs never made it to the House floor,” the state Senate did not even lift a finger, Gilbert told AFP around 3 p.m. local time on July 2.

Only CDAs that have already been approved can move forward. AMERICAN FREE PRESS will monitor how many of those exist and search for piecemeal infrastructure projects that could quietly move small segments of the Trans-Texas Corridor system forward. But the TTC portion of the NAFTA Superhighway has been dealt numerous delays and it seems doubtful that the large number of tough, active Texans involved in this fight will ever allow that free-trade super-corridor to straddle the huge Lone Star State as part of the North American Union plan. At some point TTC backers will have to give up. But other segments of the NAFTA highway system in other southern states and coming from Canada are still an issue.

Two other Texas bills that Trans-Texas Corridor foes disdained—HB1 and SB1—were amended in the special session so drastically that previous schemes to raid pension funds and other financial skullduggery to help CDAs and put a couple billion dollars outside of legislative oversight were rendered harmless. The state’s Transportation Commission, in league with TxDOT, would have been able to handle the funds independently. Improper TTC promotion and help for CDA’s may have resulted.

In fact, the $2 billion at stake now goes where it should go: half to the State Infrastructure Bank and half to the Texas Department of Transportation’s general fund, according to Gilbert. He was visiting state legislators as he talked with AFP for late developments.

“None of the money [the $2 billion] can be used for CDAs or toll roads,” Gilbert said. However, the “safety net” bill that was known as HR 1959 as the regular legislative session ended—but which died back then due to inaction and technically put TxDOT on the road to abolition—was expected to pass July 2. Otherwise, TxDOT would sunset in September. And the Texas Legislature does not meet again in regular session until 2011.

But TURF and the San Antonio Toll Party, the two main anti-TTC, anti-toll groups, want TxDOT to exist. They simply want the agency to honor its mandate to maintain and improve the busy Texas infrastructure system with gas taxes and no use of tax dollars to promote and lobby for the TTC international tollway or any related matters.

HB 300, a bill that would have advanced CDAs, among other things, also died from inaction in the late hours of May 31. The grassroots activism against these Texas schemes is among the most aggressive and successful seen. But you’d never know that judging from the establishment press. As holiday tea parties called for reforms in general, these Texans have been doing the actual work to advance freedom and independence by straining their budgets and contributing time away from their families for extended periods shadowing state legislators.

The Truth about the Flu Shot

July 12, 2009

Infowars
July 10, 2009

If the government mandates a series of flu shots this fall — so far they are only “recommending” the shots — you can expect to get a dose of thimerosal (mercury), formaldehyde, detergent, MF-59 (an oil-based adjuvant), and other toxins.

Incidentally, if you believe the government will not kidnap you at gunpoint and lock you in a concentration camp and possibly force you to take these toxins, check out Executive Order 13295 of April 4, 2003. It states that the government has the authority to establish “regulations providing for the apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of suspected communicable diseases,” including diseases at that time “not yet isolated or named.”

Of course, the government will decide if you have a deadly disease or not.

Children and Pregnant Women Targeted in U.S. Swine Flu Mass Vaccination Program

July 12, 2009

(NaturalNews) The U.S. government is about to unleash a sweeping new vaccination program that claims to protect people from swine flu. The vaccines, which are of course completely useless against any mutated strain of the H1N1 influenza virus, are nevertheless quite useful at suppressing the immune function of those who receive them. Well-designed medical studies conducted over the years have consistently shown that the people who catch the flu (influenza) with the greatest frequency are precisely those who get the most flu shots.

To those who know anything about the immune system, vaccines and influenza, it may seem shocking to learn that the U.S. influenza vaccine program will first target those with the weakest immune systems to begin with: Toddlers as young as six months old, pregnant women and adults with degenerative disease. This is precisely what Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/artic…)

Why is the swine flu vaccine targeting those least likely to need it?

It’s all quite fascinating from a public health point of view, of course, especially since the U.S. government already announced the swine flu was “mild” and that it only really attacked those with healthy immune systems, not weak immune systems. So why is the first wave of vaccines now targeting the very children and adults who are least likely to be impacted by swine flu infections in the first place?

The answer, of course, is that swine flu vaccines have nothing to do with public health and everything to do with generating billions of dollars in profits for Big Pharma. For the drug companies to rake in all this money manufacturing vaccines, they obviously have to give the shots to somebody — just to create the illusion that something productive might be going on in order to justify the government expenditures. It’s a lot like war budgets: You gotta drop bombs on somebody in order to justify making new ones.

So the vaccines are dropping little viral bombs on precisely those citizens least able to fend for themselves: Children, pregnant women, senile seniors and adults suffering from chronic disease… these are the new “targets” of the U.S. government’s mass vaccination program.

Note that they have deliberately avoided targeting the people most capable of speaking out and saying no to dangerous vaccines: Healthy young couples and middle-aged individuals who aren’t victims of modern medicine.

Baxter inserts live flu viruses into vaccine materials

Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical factories are churning out huge doses of the swine flu vaccine: 100 million doses will reportedly be available for injection into victims by mid-October.

Curiously, one of the companies being contracted to manufacture this vaccine is Baxter International, the very same company that was caught late last year inserting live influenza viruses into vaccine materials distributed to 18 countries. Apparently, this company has already perfected the techniques for infecting vaccines with live viruses, and now the U.S. government has contracted with Baxter to help manufacture hundreds of millions of doses of swine flu vaccines to be injected into infants, pregnant women and chronically diseased adults.

C4L Members in Action on July 4th

July 12, 2009

July 11, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

As is the case with so many today, Campaign for Liberty members are outraged at the direction our federal government is taking us.

However, instead of choosing the easy way out and waiting for someone to stand up in defense of our liberties, C4L members are hitting the streets, knocking on doors, signing up their neighbors in support of Audit the Fed, speaking at public functions, and spreading the word about our mission to reclaim our Republic and restore our Constitution.

Last weekend, C4L members participated in July 4th events all over the country. In addition to celebrating our independence, our members took these opportunities to invite others to join our grassroots Revolution. Their enthusiasm and passion for the message of liberty demonstrated that the spirit of freedom our Founders fought so hard to defend is still alive and gaining more momentum every day.

In the Washington, D.C. area, C4L staff took part in several events. Campaign for Liberty was a Grand Patron sponsor of the 38th Annual Conservative Fourth of July Soirée (hosted by the Leadership Institute) at Bull Run Park in Centreville, Va., and I was able to address the crowd and to give them an update on the organization. Many of the attendees had never heard of C4L, and have since checked outCampaignforLiberty.comto learn more about us Click hereto view pictures of the event on our Facebook page.

Matt Hawes, Vice President of Programs for C4L, spoke at the Prince William County Tea Partyin Woodbridge, Va., and Nick Gossin, a C4L member and co-organizer of the Tea Party, read the Declaration of Independence. Local Virginia C4L members loaded their booth with information, and hundreds of attendees signed petitions asking Representative Gerry Connolly and Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner to Audit the Fed. You can view pictures from this event here.

Pennsylvania C4L saw great success with their participation in the Welcome America Parade in Philadelphia. Over 50 members from several states (and also a member from China!) joined in their efforts, which included a float (adorned with two C4L banners, as well as American flags and Gadsden flags) featuring several members in historical clothing and trailed by members who passed out fliers, flags, and Constitutions to the crowd. For the full story on the Parade and the rest of their outreach on July 4th, check out Pennsylvania C4L Region 13 Coordinator Robert Pepe’s blog post here.

On the national Campaign for Liberty blog, we’ve spotlighted PA County Coordinator Donna Serdula’s video of the event. Check it out here.

C4L North Carolina Interim State Coordinator Pat Armstrong reported that our North Carolina members were able to gather hundreds of signed petitions for HR 1207/S 604 in less than five hours at the Charlotte Independence Day Tea Party. Estimates place the crowd at over 2,500, and North Carolina C4L was able to set up a booth in a well trafficked area to spread the word about our organization. Read Pat’s report and see pictures here.

At the Citrus County Tea Party in Inverness, Florida, C4L Florida District 5 Regional Coordinator John Baeza had an opportunity to address the crowd, and, in less than four hours, C4L members collected 901 signatures in support of Audit the Fed! Read Hernando County Coordinator Debi Longarello’s report here.

In Garland County, Arkansas, C4L Interim State Coordinator Caleb Kinley and C4L District 4 Regional Coordinator Ken Griffin worked with the Garland County GOP to organize the Garland County After the TEA Party Freedom Rally. Taking place in front of the Garland County Courthouse, the Freedom Rally celebrated our heritage of freedom and challenged those in attendance to proudly defend their liberties. Fittingly, a direct descendant of Patrick Henry was among the 500+ attendees. For pictures and a full report, visit Anita Kinley’s blog here.

Be sure to check out the Recent Member Postssection on our website to read more reports from our members’ efforts across the country on July 4th. Thanks to all those who worked so hard to make these outreaches a tremendous success.

Never before have the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution been under so great an assault from all sides. Our movement, guided by those timeless principles, has risen to the challenge of protecting them from further attacks and mobilizing to once again see them respected in all levels of government.

Together, we are making a difference and working to ensure that the independence our Founders declared on July 4th is passed on to future generations.

“This is a good overview for people who have no idea what is really happening in this country. A “Dot Dot Dot For Dummies” kind of overview of American politics and World politics. This is what is happening. Stop living in denial and stop supporting an administration that used your liberal goodwill by baiting you with the promise of change by ushering in a fake, (corporate shill puppet), black President.

I hate to say it but… wake up people. Your civil liberties will be on the chopping block for good soon, if all you good people do not speak up. Get your confidence back and start standing up for yourselves.”

We Can Stop Cap-and-Trade in the Senate!

July 9, 2009

July 8, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

When House leadership decided to rush through an over-1200 page Cap-and-Trade bill, your actions turned Cap-and-Trade from one of the administration’s highest priorities into an issue that barely managed to pass the House of Representatives.

By a final vote of 219-212 (with eight Republicans
switching sidesto support the legislation), HR 2454 was sent to the Senate, where it could come up for debate and a vote at any time.  But sources confirm Cap-and-Trade (which really should be called Tax-Kill-Jobs-and-Liberty-and-Trade), is in deep trouble in the Senate.

If you will keep the pressure up against this boondoggle, the Senate may not even vote on it before their August recess.  (Click
hereto sign the petition to your senators insisting they cast every vote against Cap-and-Trade.)

With this legislation, the Obama administration is once again delivering its version of change — change for the worse.

Changewill come to your energy bills, as estimates place the eventual increase in annual fees in the thousands of dollars for the average American family.

Changewill come to the way business is done, as even more of them decide to escape further regulation by moving overseas.

Changewill come to individuals and families struggling during this latest economic crisis, as the additional costs of doing business force companies to lay off more workers while the price of heating and cooling a home skyrockets.  The working poor and young families will be especially hard hit by this regressive, hidden tax hike.

Barack Obama has estimated the costs of this legislation to American taxpayers to be over 650 BILLION dollars over the next eight years, and that figure is no doubt just a fraction of the real cost.

Coming off the heels of a razor-thin vote in the House, and with outrage over spending increasing every day across the country, many Senators are already very nervous about supporting a bill creating so much controversy.

Thanks to your efforts, the administration and Senate leadership are facing an enormous hurdle. By continuing to keep up the pressure, we can stop the Cap-and-Tax threat and prevent the federal government from further crippling our economy and eroding our standard of living.

Click
hereto sign our online petition and urge your senators to stand up for their constituents by opposing this latest big government scheme.

And after you sign your petition, visit our
Cap-and-Trade action pagefor information to call, write, and fax your Senator.  Our action page also lists how your representative voted, and gives a sample letter to send him to either thank him for his opposition, or to express your disappointment and ask him to vote against similar legislation in the future.

With little time to take action, we very nearly defeated Cap-and-Trade in the House.Together, we can stop it in the Senate!

In Liberty,

John Tate

Journalist Fired Over Flu Pandemic Lawsuit

July 8, 2009

Kurt Nimmo

Infowars

July 7, 2009

Austrian journalist Jane Bürgermeister, who recently filed criminal charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and several high ranking government and corporate officials concerning bioterrorism, has been fired from her job. “On Monday, I was unexpectedly fired from my job as European Correspondent of the Renewable Energy World website,”Bürgermeister writes on her blog.

“Because there is reason to believe this decision was related to my filing charges alleging bioterrorism against the people of the USA and the rest of the world, and because I am entitled as a citizen to report a crime if there is credible evidence, I intend to file a lawsuit against Pennwell, a magazine,” she explains. “I have heard of other journalists fired or harassed for covering this subject.”

In a document entitled Bioterrorism Evidence, Bürgermeister points to an international corporate criminal syndicate and extensively details its plan to carry out mass genocide against the American people by unleashing a deadly flu virus and instituting a forced vaccination program.

“There is proof many organizations — World Health Organization, UN as well as vaccine companies such as Baxter and Novartis — are part of a single system under the control of a core criminal group, who give the strategic leadership, and who have also funded the development, manufacturing and release of artificial viruses in order to justify mass vaccinations with a bioweapon substance in order to eliminate the people of the USA, and so gain control of the assets, resources etc of North America.”

Bürgermeister says the core group sets its strategic goals in secret using the Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg meetings. “It can be identified as the ‘Illuminati,’ a mafia-like group with family dynasties at its center.” It is the “world’s first truly global crime syndicate” based in “off shore banking centers” and employs international organizations such as the UN and WHO.

In her lawsuit, Bürgermeister alleges that a manufactured flu pandemic “is part of a long term plan by the syndicate, who have built large numbers of FEMA concentration camps with incinerators and prepared mass graves in state such as Indiana and in New York to quarantine people and dispose of the bodies of the people who are killed by the bioweapons attack.”

Infowars and Prison Planet have posted reports on the construction of mass graves. In February, D. H. Williams, writing for the Daily Newscaster, published a report on FEMA and DHS vaccination and mass grave plans in the vicinity of Chicago and northern Indiana. In March of this year, Infowars posted extensive coverage of mass grave sites in Arizona and Texas.

Bürgermeister names Barack Obama, the UN’s Influenza coordinator David Nabarro, WHO director Margaret Chan, HHS secretary Kathleen Sibelius, DHS secretary Janet Napolitano, bankster kingpins David de Rothschild and David Rockefeller, international criminal financier George Soros, and others as defendants. The WHO, European Union, the CDC and other research labs, FEMA, vaccine companies, and the DHS have interacted with each other to develop and distribute biological weapons, the journalist contends, and have leveraged funding through the banking system and its global drug trade mechanism.

The Rockefeller Foundation has funded the eugenics movement for over a century. “The Rockefeller Foundation is the prime sponsor of public relations for the United Nations’ drastic depopulation program. Evidence in the possession of a growing number of researchers in America, England, and Germany demonstrates that the Foundation and its corporate, medical, and political associates organized the racial mass murder program of Nazi Germany,” writes Anton Chaitkin. “In the 1950s, the Rockefellers reorganized the U.S. eugenics movement in their own family offices, with spinoff population-control and abortion groups.”

Billionaires Ted Turner and Warren Buffett have funded the eugenics movement. “Other billionaires have begun funding parts of the eugenics movement. Bill Gates, the richest man in the country, and George Soros, the financier, have started putting their money into population control projects,” writesJohn Cavanaugh-O’Keefe in The Roots of Racism and Abortion: An Exploration of Eugenics.

Bürgermeister’s charges include evidence that Baxter AG, Austrian subsidiary of Baxter International, deliberately sent out 72 kilos of live bird flu virus, supplied by the WHO in the winter of 2009 to 16 laboratories in four counties. Bürgermeister “noted that Baxter’s lab in Austria, one of the supposedly most secure biosecurity labs in the world, did not adhere to the most basic and essential steps to keep 72 kilos of a pathogen classified as a bioweapon secure and separate from all other substances under stringent biosecurity level regulations, but it allowed it to be mixed with the ordinary human flu virus and sent from its facilities in Orth in the Donau,” writes Barbara Minton for Health News.

On June 29, Bürgermeister sent an email to the Fourwinds 10 website indicating she plans to take legal action against Sorcha Faal, a mysterious writer often accused of penning sensationalistic disinformation. “I can confirm I am the Jane Burgermeister who sent the email to Fourwinds10 setting the record straight about Sorcha Faal’s false report linking my charges against Baxter for their role in contaminating vaccine material with 72 kgs of live bird flu virus and the sudden death of Michael Jackson,” she wrote. “I am now looking at legal action against whoever writes under the name of Sorcha Faal. I believe this is a deliberate and cynical attempt by the people behind Baxter etc to manipulate public opinion by trivializing Michael Jackson’s death and the Baxter investigation.”

Faal’s disinfo worked so well that even medical doctors emailed Bürgermeister asking her to confirm the link to Michael Jackson. “I have had to spend a lot of time explaining that the Sorcha Faal report is a tissue of lies,” Bürgermeister complained.

Breaking News on Audit the Fed!

July 7, 2009

July 6, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Earlier today, the first shot in our battle to pass Audit the Fed through the U.S. Senate was fired on the Senate floor by Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

Senator DeMint, who has a well-deserved reputation for taking the battle to the other side in the Senate, once again proved why he is such a valuable ally in our fight to bring transparency and accountability to the Federal Reserve.

A little while ago, the Senate voted to pass HR 2918, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act. This $3 billion bill contains, among many other things, provisions for GAO audits on certain agencies.

Seizing on a chance to take quick action to bring Audit the Fed up for a vote, and with the GAO provisions in mind, Senator DeMint attached the full text of S 604, the Senate version of Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill, to HR 2918 as Senate Amendment 1367 before it was considered for final passage.

However, Senate Democrats refused to even allow a vote on the amendment!   That’s right.  The internationalist, Fed-loving elite in the Senate used a parliamentary tactic to shut down DeMint’s amendment.

After Senator DeMint brought Audit the Fed to the floor, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska raised a “point of order” to prevent a vote, claiming that the amendment violated Senate Rule 16 by “legislating” on an appropriations bill. The Senate president agreed, and the amendment was shot down.

Senator DeMint did not back down, though, and directly challenged Senate leadership by pointing out the other GAO audits contained in the bill. As Senator DeMint listed them off, the Senate president was forced to agree with Senator DeMint that each one he described, all of which would be left in for final passage, also violated Senate Rule 16.

Which tells us at least one thing: the problem wasn’t with “legislating” on the bill or violating Senate Rules (which is commonly done).  Shooting down the amendment was about preventing a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve for the first time in its history!

Senate leadership is hoping this issue will just fade away so they can get on to what they deem to be more “important” business, like dictating what kind of healthcare plan you and I can carry or passing destructive Cap-and-Tax legislation.

But the American people deserve answers on what the Fed has done with trillions of our tax dollars and what they are committing us and future generations to as part of their secret deals with foreign central banks and governments.

The leadership decided today to turn their backs on transparency, but our fight is just beginning.

As Senator DeMint made clear on the floor, the Audit the Fed bill has wide bipartisan support.  He rightly warned the Senate that even if they delay today, they WILL have to deal with the issue on the floor.

It is up to you and me to back up Senator DeMint’s words by making sure the momentum continues to build and the bill comes up for a final vote.

The rejection of the Audit amendment is just the first battle in our war. Now is the time to really put the pressure on the U.S. Senate to Audit the Fed!

Senator DeMint fired the opening salvo and showcased the hypocrisy of the Senate for allowing other GAO audits to be included in the bill while refusing to even allow a vote on Fed transparency.

Again, we’re just getting started. Senator DeMint will keep fighting to pass Audit the Fed on its own or as an amendment, and we need to continue putting pressure on our senators to do everything in their power to achieve a floor vote!

Click hereto sign our online petition.  And visit our Audit the Fed action pagefor contact information to call, write, and fax your senators and urge them to support S 604 and to push for a final vote.

Together, we will finish this fight to Audit the Fed!

The “food safety” bills now being contemplated by Congress enslave farmers to an industrial system (having to do its bidding or face penalties and prison so severe they function as whips). The bills will demand purchase and application of petrochemicals and drugs, rendering the farmers not only slaves but paying slaves (or else giving up), with the land and animals poisoned and/or genetically engineered.

NAIS – the National Animal Identification System.  View the videos.

What is apparent is the depth of farmers’ desperation about it.  Repeatedly, I hear them talk about loss of freedom. I’ve taken “loss of freedom” as an expression of outrage at the bureaucratizing of farming, or a way of talking about huge governmental overreach, or as use of conservative or libertarian language to describe loss of personal or democratic or constitutional rights.  Symbolic speech, poetic speech.  But somewhere in the midst of trying to explain to someone how much was at stake and why farmers refuse to compromise because it would be acceding to something that can’t in any way be acceded to, something clicked.

I was in the midst of trying to convey why the effort to stop the bills in Congress now (and still coming) must be centrally focused on farmers themselves and not on other people’s food, when I found myself saying (in essence)

In the simplest terms, the bills enslave farmers to an industrial system (having to do its bidding or face penalties and prison so severe they function as whips) that will demand purchase and application of petrochemicals and drugs, rendering the farmers not only slaves but paying slaves (or else giving up) and the land and animals poisoned and/or genetically engineered.

Given that a hidden form of enslavement is at stake, it’s reasonable for farmers to look for reassurance that no accidental acceptance of any portion of those bills will happen.

It was only after writing it that I was jerked up by my own words and suddenly experienced them as neither symbolic nor hyperbole.  It struck me then that we are in fact looking at a new form of slavery.

I have always assumed that slavery was an historic event which we have rejected now morally and have made changes in law to codify.  I see our cultural repulsion at continuing forms of slavery as a sign of civilization having learned lessons about slavery and being committed now to stopping it wherever it still exists (even if it is hard to do).

So, it was not easy to recognize that bills being introduced are an actual form of enslavement of a whole class of people.  A new form.

What other word would people use to describe controls imposed on people that define work they must perform, down to the most extreme detail, or suffer penalties as high as $500,000 and ten years in prison for mere infractions?

I’ve been writing variations on those words for sometime.  Why did it take so long for the light to dawn?  NAIS is more than bad, it is more than terrible, it is more than insane – it is astoundingly immoral.  It is slavery.

And along with NAIS come “best farming practices” which would force a person on their own land (though it is not clear that the land is not being stolen away, too ) to feed their own animals what the government determined, to treat them medically as the government determines, to spray the land as and when and with what the government determines.  And animals are not supposed to be on the same farm as crops.

For anyone who knows the least thing about farming and the wholeness of it and the value of manure and the help chickens give in eating bugs in a vegetable garden, or goats give as they eat back ivy, or pigs naturally give as turn over soil that can used for planting, the wrench of such utter nonsense is extreme.  But for a farmer to be commanded to do the very things that would destroy his farm – a place he knows intimately, the workings of which he lives moment to moment in sensitivity to his animals and crops, the lifetime of learning from those who know and from his own experience of each particular – is why this is slavery.

Perhaps if it were only applied to one aspect of someone’s life, it might be called tyranny, but because what is being proposed comes down on farmers where they live and on what they do and on all they own and on what defines them as people, it is deeper than “mere” tyranny.  It is theft of all meaning and reduction to operating against one’s will, against one’s knowledge, against one’s land, against one’s animals, against one’s needs, against one’s being.

And within this enslavement by which the farmer is mandated to perform tasks that undo all animal husbandry and all needs of the soil and plants, he is also required to purchase inputs (feed, drugs, sprays … and likely GMO seeds will be chosen as well) so he is not only a slave but forced to pay the ones who enslaved him, for products he specifically would avoid.

We are used to seeing things in a familiar shape – slavery as a black man in chains, imperialism as foreigners on someone else’s soil and ruling by guns and fiat.  So, it is easy to be fooled that what is happening in agriculture is no relation to this but even progress.  But today, globalization is a new kind of master with immense power.  Its “plantations” are decentralized small farms scattered around the world and its involuntary “taxes” are levied through forced repurchase of seeds and biotech contract agreements and its plantation managers are lawyers with briefcases and its agents are thugs who spy on farmers and rough them up or the state itself which keeps them in line not through whips but through demanding they record their every move on computers and punishes and breaks and even kills them with prison or debt.

Shall we strip away our familiar templates and recognize that there “food safety” bills are the strangest lies because we are looking at multinational corporations as true totalitarian masters actually setting up to take over the land from farmers and control them as thoroughly as slaves were ever controlled, threatening their lives and all they hold dear if they do not obey.  But it has been such a slick thing how these masters present themselves – in boardrooms, with our politicians, running our agencies, in our courts, in science laboratories – that we miss the brutal, ugly, cruel, immoral reality.
